I rememeber when I was first putting this story arc together a lot of people thought I was shoehorning myself as a human OC by having Fluttershy be my mother, all the while not knowing about this little film called Beastmaster

Really late on this reply, but, Twilight uses Raven’s Concentration Chant for her spell, and The line after the spell rebound seems like a Mortal Kombat quote to me.
 
Also, i find Rainbow rolling up her fur on her hoof amusing. c:
