Well, “casual” games I think are either games that anyone can play, or just relax while playing. While “hardcore” games require more time-effort put in them apparently.

By that logic, I can’t tell if something like “Animal Crossing” fits in either catagory, as it’s relaxing to play, but also takes effort catching all the bugs/fish in the game, and such.

I never understood what counts as Hardcore and Casual.I never have paid attenion to that stuff since I never understood what it means.

The only next gen consoles I have are the 3DS XL and the Wind Waker Wii U(Got it last year for Christmas). Not much interest in Xbone or PS4.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, I see many ponies/bronies fanart featuring PS4, and X-BoxOne, not just “Nintendo/nostalgic games” on older systems. I even seen pics of Luna with a PSVita, or playing “hardcore” FPS games, and such.

Also, saying Nintendo isn’t “next-gen” either is a bit close-minded, as I feel the WiiU is just as much a “gaming console” as the PS4, and X-Box One are. Regardless what some say, it has it’s “hardcore” games, as well as “casual” like those rival systems do.
(Heck, even Mario can get tough sometimes, ask anyone who’s played the “Grandmaster Galaxy” in “Super Mario Galaxy 2.”)

Overall, sorry if I’m going off on a tangent, but I kinda wish the industry, and gamers wouldn’t divide games up into “casual,” or “hardcore,” and not judge games based on that. (Like saying only “hardcore,” or “M-rated” games are good.)
I just play whatever I find enjoyable, regardless if it’s casual, hardcore, or whatever.

Personally, I don’t have any of the newer consoles, the only “current-gen” thing I own is a 3DS XL, and I enjoy both old and new games on it.

Yes; my comment was slightly facetious because Minecraft is a casual game. I just wanted to thump my chest a little bit because she’s a gamer pony who plays “hardcore” modern games in a sea of “gamer ponies” who appeal to nostalgic gamers by playing old school Nintendo games(NES, SNES, etc.) and their modern counterparts. Just nice to see an artist take their gamer pony character into a more “next-gen” direction.

Isn’t “Minecraft” a family/casual game technically though?

I don’t get the hate for “casual” games nowadays honestly… (I wish the industry never coined the terms “Casual & Hardcore” games…) Some beloved old games like “Tetris” would be considered “casual” nowadays, and Tetris can get pretty intense sometimes regardless.

It can be brutal, especially getting your foot in the door… but I think in general it also depends on a few things such as what studio you work at, what role you have and how good you are at what you do.

I’ve heard plenty of horror stories, but my personal experience has actually been pretty consistently enjoyable for the most part.
