The Doctor has had all of his Time Lord magic drained from his body, taking his cutie mark as well as his connection to the Time Vortex and the TARDIS.

Now, unable to travel through the fourth dimension, the Doctor is now trapped in one time and in once place, powerless and alone, and unable to regenerate all the Time Lord can do is mourn his machine, and wait for the crisis to subside.
