Sombra was suppose to be more of threat than an actual character. Is like the Rhino in James and the Giant Peach. Ok talking about that. Was that thing ever explain in the movie? Seriously.
So what are you saying, that its ok to make an uninteresting 1 dimensional cliche of a character, if you only set out to make a 1 dimensional cliche of a character? Then its not just bad/lazy writing?
Well, I guess if that is what Meghan McCarthy was trying to do, she really succeeded at it.
This. So much this.
He wasn’t meant to be a fleshed out character. He served his role in the episode.
This. Most of it.
At least Trenderhoof has more than 3 lines of dialogue. All of the other show’s villains have been pretty good, the fact he wasn’t fleshed out more annoyed me.
SOMEONE SAY EDGY OC :D?
Aww, look guys, somebody is mad he did not get his Discord no.2
Personally I just wanted a bad guy with more than a 3 word vocabulary.
The capacity for sentient thought would be a plus.
Or something else to set him apart.
He didn’t really do anything aside from his first encounter.
He displayed no signs of any kind of personality.
His plan contained levels idiocy I wouldn’t expect from 5 year olds.
His efforts to cover up his one weakness amounted to pulling a page out of one book detailing what at the time was common knowledge.
He hid the one weapon that could defeat him, in the one place anyone trying to find clues about where he hid it, would look, and in a room with open windows in every direction no less.
In short, because he’s a blank personalityless void with a penchant for acting like an imbicile that looks like some emo kids attempt at an extra edgy OC.
Actually I think that people wanted a villain that we could sympathies with.
I think so. Perhaps people wanted one of those “deliciously evil” villains, you know the ones that enjoy their cruelty? That’s what I got out of it.
I wonder if the expectations to Sombra was the main thing that effected the reaction to him
Especially not after a millennium of discorporate isolation and sensory deprivation.
Look not every villain can be complex.
