What you said. Some things I pretty much immediately know I don’t like (scat, foalcon, rape, really stupid memes, et cetera), and don’t need them taking up space on my image listings. Some of the tags, though, I look at to make sure I don’t want to see them first; for example, if I’m considering filtering an artist, I first make sure they’ve drawn nothing I like.

As for my sheer number of hidden tags, I prefer to be as specific as possible with my filtering so that I can hide particular things I dislike while still seeing as many pictures I appreciate as possible. I’d rather have a lot of specific filters that work than a blanket one that covers up more than I intend to.

Basically, I think we’ve got a working system. Assuming people use tags right, I don’t have to deal with anywhere near as much stuff that I know doesn’t appeal to me, and people who do like that sort of thing do not have to deal with me whinging about it. I believe that situation is commonly known as a win-win.

Um, the point is, I have been exposed to the stuff I’m filtering out, which is why I know I don’t have an interest in it. And if all an artist draws is something that’s going to turn me off, then I’m not going to be interested in their artwork, even if it’s really well done.

More like don’t want those thumbnails taking up valuable screen space and download times that could be used for images the user might actually like. After all, if I know I’m never going to click on a pic tagged “scat”, “grimdark”, “birthday game”, etc., why bother having the thumbnail displayed?

I just don’t understand how anyone could have 605 things they hate so much that they couldn’t bear to see a 250x250 pixel thumbnail of them…

Yeah, that’s what I try to do. Of course, now that I have 605 tags hidden, it’s more a matter of properly tagging those things when they come up.

Instead of adding more, why try to learn how not to be offended by 537 things and counting?
There’s really nothing at all on this site that should “rustle anyone’s jimmies”, as it were.

A waste of biomatter
I always thought this argument equated to “what your angry about children starving in Africa! Just don’t think about it and then it not a problem anymore.” The problem is if people are really offended by something and see it as wrong then it’s mere existence is a travesty. And filtering won’t change anything but making it seem like your trying to ignore an “evil”. It’s all in human morality. True some people make themselves angry but think about those chickun scootaloo pics.Should they be allowed for no other reason than free speech or should action be taken to ban that.Is it right? Should it be done? Why? The whole thing is usually (not always but most times) more complex than simply saying FILTER IT! It’s all about points of view.
