okay…however the issues is that this attitude is purely fanon not canon(some fans take it too seriously to the point they think the characters in show act like this.)They don`t think for a minute that’s not the kind of thing you wan to teach children. Plus, i have seen better versions of this,(well thought out stories of this), all i ever see is this blah blah master race, blah blah mud ponies, blah blah Unicorn hating Princess Celestia. it doesn’t really make the unicorns/ pegasus look epic but like a bunch of op self inserts. Half of the oc unicorns don’t even have a real reason to act that way. my thoughts is some deranged Unicorn makes hate speech about Earth ponies other follow it mindlessly(lets face it in fanon they would stupidly do that with out a second thought.)Then, Equestria is doom and lot Unicorns and/or Pegasus would be in jail.
oh i know. the jokes not the problem( even though animal racism is dumbest thing i ever seen the ponies are animals they have breeds, but lets not dwell on that.) The real issue is fans that do this:
appealing unicorn master race to everything.(i blame one fan fiction for this and that’s the trouble with unicorns. its story that makes no sense it just all over the place( if you thought you hated blue blood your going to hate him even more in that story.) i have seen and read to many fanfic that have unicorns and Pegasus portray in negative light. stories of every single unicorn or Pegasus wanting power and slaves. unicorn or Pegasus parents that are a shame to have an earth-pony foal and abuse it( oh, yeah their were stories and picture of those) im not really a fan of it because it made kinda dislike other two tribes( and i use to like the Pegasus and unicorn tribe before i witness the whole master race trend), but anyway yeah when you see it over and over and over you get pretty sick of it especially when its in places it doesn’t need to be in.( some fans had to deal with fans who were into the whole master race agenda and it was really annoying for them.)
Troo, though I assume the whole “inferior mud ponies” is just a joke some fans do to mock racism, and such.
yes, they are reformed(that’s good), but you wanna know whats really Ponist. the fans intentionally looking for things to downgrade Earth ponies , and what ever magic they have. I’m well a ware that certain unicorns have a very strong source of magical power(certain Unicorns not normal Unicorns) same goes for certain Pegasus and Earth ponies.
you( not saying that you are but some of the fans do), cant put Twilight and Rainbow dash’s face on every Pegasus and Unicorn. just like you cant put Applejack or pinkie’s face on every Earth pony.
Hopefully he can help keep Spoiled at bay, though I wouldn’t hold my breath. It’s good that Diamond will at least have one parent supporting her, though.
Yeah, perhaps. Though, sense her Dad Filthy Rich seems like a nice guy, (judging from “Family Appreciation Day,” and the “Do Princess Dream” episodes.) so he would likely be happy with Tiara’s road down a nicer path.
I’m hoping for an episode along those lines too, but will probably have to settle for fanfics.
Anyhow, despite my possible poor wording, my point is that her mother seems like she’d be able to make Diamond’s new path a lot rockier than it needs to be. Can we agree on that?
That’s actually not so much “horror,” but would actually make good story fodder for future episodes involving her. (Though, I doubt the show’s writers are going to focus on her much now that she’s reformed. Even when she was a bully, she barely got any focus aside from being a minor-antagonist. Sunset Shimmer & Discord are the only reformed-antagonists the writers seem to care about, or know what to do with. Admittedly, even I’m not sure what they can do with Trixie, that the comic hasn’t already done.)
I’d say mid-level since she could theoretically use lightning to start fires. But yeah, what Trixie did with the amulet isn’t something Lightning Dust could equal without it.
@Millennial Dan
She kinda was in one episode, but it was because she was scared of losing her turtle, so everypony was ridiculously understanding.
@Jarkes
More fridge horror: Diamond still has to live with her mother, who doesn’t exactly seem thrilled with Diamond’s new friends or the changes they seem to be inspiring in Diamond herself.
Yeah, though losing the election as well as the fear and respect (or what little respect she got) from her fellow students also helped too.
When she saw she only got one vote, (which was definitely herself) She really looked very genuinely hurt, and horrified she even drove her best friend (and perhaps ONLY friend) to vote against her, and dislike her too. She looked scared & saddened at the thought that even Silver Spoon didn’t like her anymore. (I assume she always had some self-esteem issues she always tried to hide perhaps.)
While it was kinda cool the way Spoon finally told her off, (and called her out even treating her badly in the ep’, and not letting her help.) The way she said, “But y-you’re my best friend!” kinda oddly made me feel a li’l bad for her, but she kinda needed to be broken finally, to help her realize the error of her ways.
I think the moment she finally broke down was after her Mother gave her (bad) advice, and yelled at her. She realized being like her Mother wasn’t doing any good, and realized nobody liked her, that she wasn’t who she wanted to be, that she didn’t understand her mark, and such.
probably always had some doubts, and insecurities with herself, but she always tried to hide them, sense “diamonds are strong,” but she never wanted to admit she was weak, and that’s partially probably why she was a bully/snob.
I just realized something… THe title of the episode is “Crusaders of the Lost Mark.”
The “Lost Mark,” is Diamond Tiara.
One of my friends suggested that the moment where Diamond Tiara finally realized that what she had been doing all this time was wrong was when her best friend Silver Spoon turned on her.
And perhaps all that stuff was also what helped contribute to Diamond’s heel-face-turn.
All her failures, her Mother, and finally the events in “Crusaders of the Lost Mark” are what made her finally “crack” basically, and question her behavior, and herself. She began to realize she’s getting nowhere being snobby, and such. (Like in that cute sad song she did.) The episode also implied there were other reasons why she bullied the CMC. (Like her remark about how “lucky” they are.)
Taking all that into account, it kinda made her reformation a bit more “satisfying” to me then some other reformed antagonists, or villains.
Exactly. It gives some fridge horror: what if Diamond Tiara got worse and worse in her behavior precisely because her mother kept berating and possibly punishing her for her failures?
I don’t know, she’s been humiliated before, ignored at her Cute-cenera, fell in mud, got fired from her school newspaper, covered in ink, and such. Diamond Tiara’s had some reprocussions. Judging by her “sad face” in “Ponyville Confidential” it looked like Cheerilee even chewed her out off-screen. So she’s had some reprocussions.
Heck, Babs Seed was much more of a “Karmiac Houdini.” (And she was in some ways worse then Tiara & Spoon. Babs actually got physical, throwing veggies at the CMC, threatening them, and such.) Nothing against Babs mind you.
To be honest, I only felt Tiara was a “Karmiac Houdini” in “Flight to the Finish.” But after seeing “Crusaders of the Lost Mark,” it’s likely off-screen her Mother wasn’t to pleased with her losing to mere “blank-flanks,” and likely berated her, or even punished for her failure.
Makes one wonder what happened after Tiara’s other “failures.”
>The true final villain was a mane character all along
It’ll be like Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion!
So, what I’m getting from this is that Rainbow Dash is already a villain. And no one suspected a thing! Dastardly fiend.
Especially once we found out how her mother saw failure…
Wouldn’t constant failure be karma enough?
I think people mainly said that due to Diamond tiara being a massive karma houdini. The villains always got defeated in the end, and the antagonists would usually suffer some sort of repercussion for their actions, like Lightning dust being kicked out of the academy or the Flim flam brothers being run out of town.
But Diamond tiara, by contrast, almost always got away with her schemes, even if they didn’t succeed.
So people built her up as being super evil due to being a hate sink.
Yeah, Tiara isn’t exactly “evil” enough to be a real villain.
Though, before her heel-face-turn I saw some fans insist she was worse then the likes of Tirek, which I found quite odd. Sure she’s mean, and gave Scootaloo self-esteem issues in one episode, but a lot of fans forget she’s just a kid, and doesn’t even get physically abusive to her bullying “victims.”
There are bullies IRL much worse then she is.
That’s not really “Villain” material though. Trixie with the alicorn amulet was pretty much unassailable even by Twilight, and could possibly have been on the same level, powerwise, as Celestia or Luna.
But Lightning dust? Sure she could screw with a few ponies, but there’s no way she’d be able to do more than make a minor criminal nuisance of herself, let alone take over a town and enforce an iron will.
@Beau Skunky
I wouldn’t call her a villain, but antagonist. In most discussions on other pony sites, the term “villain” Tends to be reserved for characters who actually represent a threat like Chrysalis or discord.
I think that Lightning Dust could make a menace of herself if she chose. She’s damn near Dash’s skill level, and we’ve seen Dash demolish a building under her own power. She’d be more than capable of putting holes in some less-sturdy buildings, sabotaging the weather in the most disruptive ways possible, dropping lightning and whirlwinds on the ponies below, and running rings around other pegasi who try to confront her.
The only problem is it might feel like a retread of “Magic Duel”.
Could be interesting.
Diamond Tiara, an earth pony was considered “villainous” by some, but to me she was mere-so a mere “annoyance for the CMC” for the most part, rather then an “evil villain.” Closest she came to being villainous was in “Ponyville Confidential,” and “Flight to the Finish.” Still some fans forget she’s just a bratty little kid, and not some soulless demon.
Plus, it’s finally been shown she does have a “vulnerable” & nicer side finally, and she’s now reformed. It even seemed implied her bullying was partially to hide her own insecurities, and fueled by a “never fail, reputation is everything” attitude her snobby Mother badgers her with.
