‘Ponyville Confidential’ wasn’t completely their fault, I mean we do have Diamond Tiara in that episode. But they were still involved albeit briefly.
And Derpy, yeah she causes trouble. But it’s harder to be mad at her since she’s only a background character with only a few lines to her name (and we all know that ended) and she did help out in ‘Hurricane Fluttershy’ without causing any noticeable damage.
@Smudge_Proof
Thank you for understanding, if you like those two derps, that’s okay by me too. Hell I like Blueblood, there’s no justifiable reason for me to like him either.
@Smudge_Proof
Whatever makes you happy.
Just to clarify ( I really need to be able to collect my thoughts better), I can understand if you don’t like them based on what you said and what we both agree on, and that’s fine with me.
I need to go back to drawing Snailsmut, eh?
I can’t blame you for faulting them for most of the things you said, which I believe to be true, but blaming them to any extent for Ponyville Confidental’s plot is just… pretty plain silly to me, even if you admit that they did nothing knowingly or willingly regarding that. And the CMC made an initial clear moral decision on the wrong AFTER being confronted by all who were negatively affected.
Regarding Derpy, I fail to see how her ignorant actions are that unsimilar to what Snips and Snails did… both caused property damage, and both endangered at least one pony, I think. The cloud’s mobility is not a factor in it. That, and the only other thing I can recall her doing is dropping a bunch of very heavy objects on Twilight. Her carelessness has caused serious danger too on multiple occasions (if not for the rule of funny, it could have ended bad, but I blame cartoon logic). The best Derpy has done to date if my memory serves well is not causing damage, in that vein. Not chewing out on her, since I have a soft spot for derps, literal or not, just for comparison.
@Background Pony
Both of you are nerds
No, but they still unknowingly put the pieces in place for the events to unfold the way they did. And the actual gossip part didn’t come in until later when the CMC saw the full implications of what they’ve been doing.
Trixie may have been an obnoxious showboat, but that hardly justifies standing below something that could easily kill her, and it sill destroyed her cart.
Of course they didn’t think they were, despite everything they aren’t actively malicious. But they still put everyone in very real danger, a giant wild animal was in their town. If it weren’t for Twilight who knows what it would’ve done.
And as for the thundercloud, it’s almost harmless as long as nopony does anything to it, and even then Rainbow Dash or plenty of other pegasi could just push the thing far away and make it dissipate, not so with an Ursa.
No, they aren’t evil. But they’ve done more harm than good with their screen time.
As for the comics being canon, eh, that’s a debate for another time.
So, it was their fault the CMC started a gossip column and made the outright moral decision to continue poisoning other ponies’ lives?
Trixie had it coming, and she didn’t even have the backbone to admit she was full of hot air after the incident.
As for ponies risking other’s lives, I still uphold they didn’t think they were. They were perfectly calm next to Trixie. Yes, idiots, and you can dislike them for that, I won’t debate that.
But how is the Ursa incident different from what Derpy did to the Town hall? She almost zapped Dash, and I believe lighting bolts are dangerous in FiM.
I am not even sure the comics are canon. I hope they aren’t, because I have a plethora of issues with them, both in and out of universe.
Yeah, like I said, nothing personal. Do whatever you like and what pays you. For me it just feel very, very, wrong.
Yes they have a lot of harm thanks to their idiocy. They led a freakin’ star bear into town and risked everyone’s lives because they don’t know how showmanship works (to be fair that was nearly everyone else had that problem but I digress) and destroyed Trixie’s life, they put the pieces in place for the CMC’s gossip column, without them they probably would’ve given up after the first day. In the comics they launched a ball of fireworks that destroyed Big Mac’s Gazebo.
The only time I can think of their idiocy didn’t ruin everything was ‘The Cutie Pox’.
I’m sorry, I don’t want to hate them but they have literally been nothing but a nuisance. Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, that will change come season 4.
Oh, regarding fics, I see what you meant.
Heh, my apologies.
No, but I think they haven’t done much harm in general, either (movie counterparts are different entities, but I think they were simply mislead there), as opposed to doing something, like, willingly brainwashing ponies or spreading hurtful gossips.
Don’t you speak on our behalf.
Just like background ponies.
Meaning someone can write a wonderfully heartwarming fic with Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo, then write a fic about her brutally raping her. Suddenly the heartwarming fic isn’t all that heartwarming to me anymore. When it comes to other people’s characters, you can’t have your cake and eat it too, I can’t stop what people do but it’s so fucking jarring to me, I could honestly go on this about but I don’t feel like it at the moment.
And I’m sorry I can’t stand them either, but it’s not because they’re male and rock stupid (though the stupid part doesn’t help) but for three seasons, a comic, and a damn movie, they have done nothing useful… AT ALL!
What do you mean by taking fanfiction on face value exactly?
And welp, sorry to hear you can’t stand them on the show.
Oh you!
Now I imagine him drilling a filly ever so slowly… and the filly’s frustration just keeps building, almost going over the edge…
I intend to moan about snails a lot this season
nudge nudge wink wink
A bit from column A, a bit from column B.
Nothing personal, but I don’t trust fanart/fanfiction at face value anymore (I’ve seen what you’ve done with the filters turned off). Nothing short of the show itself somehow making them tolerable will do the trick for me.
Who knows, maybe season 4 will do just that.
