God damn it, not again.
Now we know who to replace in 2014…
I’m your temperance (resistance to corruption and such).
Some of it… :j
X was never Y. You’re being nostalgic for a time that never existed.
On one hand, the events from the civil war to the civil rights movement implies there is some kind of problem. On the other, wimpy city folk are pretty good at getting all the bad stuff rectified. :\
It hasn’t always been so civil.
Lost wages for govt. employees, lost tourism money, hundreds of little inconveniences that combined take a dent out of private business profits…not to mention the resulting loss of tax revenues. It all takes its toll on the total national GDP.
Bus bunch of WWII vets to you office building and you will have congress critters falling all over themselves to open your agency.
Redo on the comment I derped:
@thps48
Some Cuban Canadian Communist Manchurian Candidate sent to America to subvert democracy and bring the US to its knees.
The Honorable Junior Senator From Texas: Rafael Edward Cruz
People, I just want to get back to work. I have my own budget to worry about, and every day’s lost wages makes it harder and harder to balance.

Who the hell is Cruz and why is this the first time I’ve heard his name? XP
This is what I think will happen, not what I want to happen:
The shutdown will end and nothing will have changed.

Yep. My mom is in the tourism industry, so she’s seeing it firsthand. She got a call from a tour group that was scrambling to change their plans after being scheduled to go to Washington D.C., the Liberty Bell, and the Gettysburg battlefield.
I’m going to assume the 10 billion would be lost wages, missed business opportunities and stuff like perishables going bad because they aren’t being shipped out in time.
Plus, since a lot of famous tourist attractions are being affected (as in they’re closed), that’ll mean the loss of tourist dollars too. In addition, I’m certain some tourists will cancel their trips if the places they want to visit are closed. Imagine flying all the way from, say, Singapore to see the Statue of Liberty only to be told, “Sorry, can’t come in.”
Huh. Sounds like the crisis that the sequester is. And losing 10 billions dollars? On what?
You wish. The majority of Americans are incredibly stupid and utterly useless to the political system they are supposed to participate in. I know from experience.
Yeah, unless you wish to be arrested, leave the guns at home.
