Description
More practice with creating a human type character, so decided to go with creating a bust of Fluttershy from Equestria Girls.
Not going for realistic features, just the general feel and look of Fluttershy from the Movie.
Created from basic shapes in ZBrush 4R6

This picture is disproportionally creepy, about 2-3X more creepy than the average “nightmare fuel” tag’s submissions.
Just really creepy.
hmm ok I will give that a try, thanks.
thanks, still trying to get the basic form down.
still learning and trying.
Making a cartoony face “realistic” is THE road to Uncanny Valley Land. You must be really good to avoid it.
Make another one and see how it goes. Experiment!
ok thanks for the feed back.
lol I always make it to realistic, that is why I am trying to get feed back so I can improve.
Come on, can’t you see it yourself? First, the face is way too symetrical. No lips give her a death eater look. Her smile is creepy as hell because her eyes don’t follow the smile. The overall texture is way too plastic looking. Overall, it look like a funeral mask that came to life, ready to eat your soul.
How to improve this and make it less creepy? I dunno. Making a human CG face that is not creepy is a pretty hard feat.
Ah, well, there’s a definition of Uncanny valley, after all:
It’s just because she looks like a “real life” cartoonish pony but… not enough.
Unfortunately, I don’t know how to improve this to get out of the valley. Add details? Use cell shading?
It’s more like a try and see.
of course but I need more feed back than Uncanny Valley.
why do you feel it is that way?
why do you find it in Uncanny Valley?
if you don’t tell me how do I improve?
I hope this won’t let you down, but… do you agree that this is Uncanny Valley?
Uncanny valley.
