THIS
As far as intros go, the English one was my favorite (you just can’t beat Daniel Ingram) until the third Japanese opening. Both the visuals and the song are truly fantastic, IMO. Don’t particularly care for the Italian opening or the second Japanese opening (the former in the case of the video, mainly, the song is pretty good, while it’s both for the latter), and while the video for the first is kinda bland, I like the song.
While we’re on the subject of theme songs, I personally liked both Japanese ending themes, both for the visuals (though to be fair, it’s not hard to be more visually interesting than white text on a black background) and the songs, especially the second one.
In regards to songs, believe me, I hate it too that the Japanese dub didn’t dub four songs, especially because on a lot of the other songs, they really hit it out of the park, IMO (At the Gala and Smile Song especially) and because it’s my favorite non-English version (but I do certainly enjoy and like many other versions too, such as LA Spanish and Polish, just to name a couple). The cuts don’t bug me as much because I see it as much more likely that they’ll be restored for a home media release in Japan than the dubbed songs being dubbed for that.
Also, if I had to choose between no cuts and Little Pony TV, I’d choose the former, but I do enjoy the latter - it has a certain charm to it.
Finally, it could’ve been worse: they could’ve done what the Ukrainian dub did with the songs (believe me, once you’ve heard one from season one, and also one from season two, you’ll know what I mean).
I know, I don’t know why I keep using it in the internet
Sarcasm is kind of hard to detect in text…
>What is sarcasm
I was making a parody of that comment, chill out brah, find your mantra and all that hippy bullshit

What a faggot
When people claim that dubbing something into Japanese automatically makes it better, I point to Beast Wars and Beast Machines. Some of the most serious or wrenching episodes get undone by ‘hilarious’ personality quirks and fourth-wall gags (like smelling what people are having for dinner).
Even in Transformers Prime, the creepy serial killer Airachnid becomes a boy-crazy stalker and the bestial Insecticons become a bunch of buzzing motormouths.
+1
Yeah, people’s obsession with the cultural goings on in the Land of the Rising Sun flummoxes the shit out of me. Sure, they make some pretty good stuff…just like every other country on the planet
*searches for Japanese ‘At the Gala’ on YouTube…
Huh, not bad.
>AttD
dangit, meant AotD
Their MLP dub has some serious problems…
Considering that one of the main draws of MLP:ENG is the fantastic voice work, beating it is a pretty tall order, and the MLP:JPN cast does not deliver. They’re good, to be sure (Celestia in particular is inspired casting), but they could never hold a candle to Tabitha, Ashleigh, Andrea, Cathy, Michelle, Claire, Maddy, Nicole, Peter, Lee, Richard, Andrew, Britt, Brynna, Kathleen, Chantal, Shannon, Brenda, Rebecca, Kazumi, John, and of course Tara.
PS - Some English dubs even outdo Japanese originals. You’ll have a hard time finding someone who doesn’t think the English dub of Cowboy Bebop is better than the Japanese.
Italian intro is still the best I think, I was hoping Japanese intro would be something like that.
We didn’t need to see that.
You’ve never seen any black weeaboos before?
The Italian version was the first with a talking Lyra. That alone makes it pretty cool.
Basically this. I don’t see how they can justify replacing ANY of the music, when it’s one of the highest points of the entire series. Also, I’m sorry, but the Japanese intro song is so generic, irritating, and terrible, I will never understand why anyone likes it.
They didn’t dub Winter Wrap-up, but they dubbed the CMC songs.. Winter Wrap-up is the only one I specifically remember they didn’t dub. I’m only up to episode 23 though (not subbed yet), so maybe they didn’t dub the Best Night Ever song.
Oh come off it dude. The guy in the picture made the claim that the Japanese version was superior, folks disagreed. No need to bitch mate.
