Somedays you just can’t get rid of a wub!
Adam West.
BURN EVERYTHING
Ashleigh is also the voice of Pinky (yes that’s how you spell it according to the cast credits) on the new Pac-Man cartoon and whenever I hear her speak she always sounds like she’s doing her Rainbow Dash voice.
Some VAs do have slightly limited ranges of what voices they can do. For example almost every character Yuri Lowenthal voices sounds rather same-y, but yet I still love it whenever I hear the guy regardless, heh. (Nolan North gets that criticism sometimes too for apparently using his “Nathan Drake” voice a lot, but he seems to be getting less of that lately after his roles as Penguin in the Batman Arkham games and Deadpool sound nothing like his Nathan Drake voice)
the idea in a nutshell MLP staff says anything about the show. A few of Everyone take’s everything as canon.
Someone would have recorded it, no? Closest thing is this:
@Twinhead-B
Only thing close is >>379536; people watch staff twitter accounts like hawks, if it was ever said and was up for over a minute, it’d have been capped.
Singing is really the only time (in season 1) that you could really tell that Dash and AJ have the same voice actress.
With Andrea Libman, whenever Fluttershy raises her voice, she tends to sound a lot like Pinkie. With Ashleigh Ball, watch “Fall Weather Friends” and then marvel at how that’s pretty much one woman arguing with herself (at least, I never heard any Dash bleeding into AJ or vice-versa. Outside of singing in season 1. “At the Gala” is where you can hear it the clearest, imo).
Applejack is her only role that doesn’t seem to scream “That’s her!”
For the 2 lines she did as Nurse Redheart, it was obvious and (to bring “LPS” up again, but they do share a production crew and voice cast) try to unhear Dash when you hear Blythe talking.
But yeah. She does have the vocal quality that would fit Vinyl. Still, as far as known voice actors for the series, I’d prefer Kelly Metzger above the others.
She’s gotten better at differentiating her voices when she sings as the seasons have gone on.
If memory serves he also tweeted it, but said tweet has since been deleted. :/
@Fortune
Ashleigh would be perfect for that kind of role. My only concern is that it’d end up being too much like Rainbow Dash or Applejack.
It was somewhere in the panel when Ingram would repeat names the audience yelled as saying they got songs.
@Fortune
I still kind of think Vinyl’s voice would be, you know, kind of gruff. Not masculine or anything, just not syrupy and sweet. Why Libman probably couldn’t voice her.
If Kelly Metzger did her voice, that would be the best.
She’s great as Spitfire, and I loved her one episode role as (more or less from it’s behavior) as the stoner cat in “Littlest Pet Shop”.
As for Kathleen Barr, possibly. But from her roles as Trixie and Chrysalis (as well as Mrs. Trombly from “LPS”), I can’t really see it.
Source on that?
Yeah, most celebrities don’t like doing voice over work for some reason. I think it might be “beneath” some of them…
Or heck, Maryke Hendriske, Gilda’s VA?
The biggest name they’ve gotten so far was John de Lancie (and even that is incredibly minor) and that was for a main villain of a two parter who was pretty much designed to be one of his characters to begin with.
It was also said in a con panel that most celebrities say no to doing voice over work. Unless the episode is literally more or less “Epic Wub Time”, they’re sticking with in-house talent.
That someone was Daniel Ingram, who mentioned her by name.
Maybe Kelly Metzger (voice of Spitfire) or Kathleen Barr (voice of Trixie and Queen Chrysalis)? They’ve done voice-work for the show before, so it’s not too farfetched.
