Seriously though, this movie sucks.
There are no redeeming qualities about it, it sucks. If you want to see how not to do a book-to-movie adaptation go no further because this movie has perfected it to a tee. The book is about how the human world would survive after a zombie apocalypse, and for what is worth there is not a single zombie in it since it deals with the aftermath. The movie is a mindless action fest with hordes of zombies piling onto each other and they move like water.
Oh, and they detonate a grenade inside a plane and survive. How do you-what!?
This movie sucks. Avoid it like the plague.

I can’t understand people who hate this film. I didn’t even known about the book until now, so I can say:

Your opinion is trash, bc
  1. You just hate it, because there are zombies in film;
  2. There are always a chance to survive any aircraft crash if you’re lucky enough and know how to act in those situations.

    So you’re just bullying this film tbh

I mean, you could possibly detonate a grenade in a commercial airliner and survive. The aircraft in the movie was relatively large, an Airbus A310, I believe. And assuming no shrapnel penetrated the center fuselage tank, the rapid decompression and loss of the number 2 engine are both survivable. The aircraft likely could have even made a successful landing.

Zombies in book: slow, robot-like, barely rot due to repelling almost all life.

For once, I find someone who agrees with me. Usually when people make a film adaption of a book it retains at Least a few things that are similar. Jurassic Park the movie was pretty different from the book, but it still maintained the same plot and characters. World war z, did not do any of this. The movie is so different from the book that it hurts

Shit like this is why I’m kinda happy the dark tower series will probably never get it’s own adaptation… I used to think I’d be happy even if all it did was lead more people to discover it, but a shitty movie will just ruin the imagery, or worse, turn people away from it forever.

I know how you feel. I mean, there was SO much potential in adapting WWZ. They could’ve had it done in a mockumentary style but what we GOT was what would happen if Roland Emmerich directed a zombie movie. The lobotomizers were absent entirely, the zombies felt as if they were rejects from the Dawn of the Living Dead remake, the action was an incoherent MESS in that it almost felt like a found footage movie. If you want to do an action scene, make it so we can honestly tell what the fuck is going on! You turned one of the most interesting concepts of a book which showed us what would happen in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse into a generic shoot-‘em-up action film with none of the charm of the book whatsoever. Oh and the worst part? It’s going to get a sequel. Marc Forster needs to make a film like The Kite-Runner just to help get rid of the foul taste this movie has left in my mouth and Matthew Carnahan needs to find another job. I think I have just found my least favorite writer next to Stephanie Meyer, M. Night Shymalan and Harold Kloser. Did not enjoy this movie. AT. ALL.
