They probably didn’t design that Wonderbolt with Surprise in mind initially. But fans latched onto the similarity and started connecting them, and the book makers most likely included it as a shoutout to the fans. There’s a number of shoutouts in there, similar to the collector’s cards and the comics.

ah, whoops, looks like i mistook blaze for spitfire. so surprise was a canon character all this time, huh? does that mean the producers were able to secure the rights to her character after all? ‘cuz i have a feeling the fanbase might expect a smooze or two in season 4, or maybe even katrina… nah, ignore that, i’m dumb.
