“Becoming” isn’t exactly the right word, since we’ve had people drowning out “bad” opinions with their own overemotional strawmen for quite a while now. They’re pretty much a constant in any sufficiently large group that attempts to have opinions. They’d be harmless if only people stopped falling for them.

As both a Transformers fan AND a Brony, I can relate.
 
Also, no matter the fandom, many fans HATE change. Thus, “ruined forever” apply to everything.

Well actually all fandom had been like that. From times of Sherlock Holmes(seriusly when Conan Doyle “killed” him the fans started chasing him, with intention to force him bring him back from fictional death!…made one thing that the only reasons we are not forming mobs outside this or that author house is Internet…)

Our nitpicks are akin to the Transformers fandom (fitting considering Hasbro owns both), while our whining, bitching, infighting, and general creepiness is pretty much on par with the Sonic fandom. Thus, we are pretty much the worst fanbase in existence right now. Frankly, I’m amazed that any of the show staff bother to talk to us anymore.
