Look up there! Is it a bird? Is it a Pegasus? No, it’s a flying squirrel! Well, technically it doesn’t actually fly. It glides from tree to tree; bats are the only mammals that can truly fly (in our world). There is another animal that is often mistaken for a flying squirrel. The sugar glider of Australia is actually a marsupial, but its anatomy and behavior are exactly like that of its rodent counterpart. So, this is more of a “flying possum,” as well as a classic example of convergent evolution.

We also know that one famous flying squirrel is best friends with a moose. Those two make quite the duo, especially when they’re dealing with fiendish spies trying to “keel moose and squirrel.” Quite a “rocky” adventure.

I made this little fella for my Luna Day project months ago, and then included him again for my Nocturnal Animals project. This is probably the last animal vector to submit for Earth Month.
