Anon uploads account for almost a third of total uploads, the vast majority of which are “good” uploads.
 
People that want to upload garbage or troll will just get an account and forget about it the next day. It’s what Kein did; he had over 120 different accounts before he realized the captcha on registering and the captcha on uploading both take the same time to complete.

Why not just disable BGP uploading in the first place? Derpibooru has to be one of the only image sites I know that allows anonymous uploads.

I’m not a admin/mod here or know what the system they use is, but I do know how to maintain server and stuff from my network server classes, and NONE of that is that simple, in fact that would just make it HARDER for the staff here.

The problems Kein cause are wildly overblown. He’s an annoyance, and most of the methods to fully remove that annoyance would be more annoying than he ever could be.
 
We’re not going to use a shotgun to deal with a fly.

Hmmmm. Simple ideas:
 
(1) prevent direct/immediate uploading for BGPs, instead have someone vet/dupecheck/spaicheck it before releasing it into the pool.  
(2) for banned users, have the login settings rickroll them or something.

Risking taking TSP’s wrath there would be possible ways to get around the Kein problem but almost all of them would require either:
 
Hurting a ton of other legitimate users and restricting their right to post good content
 
or
 
Creating a super awesome security net that would take so much time and effort it would be infinitely less effective then just this tiny, baby, war of attrition.
 
I’m not a tech whiz like some of the awesome people here but it’s pretty obvious that to punish a specific user by cramping down in a way that would effect tons of other users for the crime of annoying dupes seems kind of like a bad trade off.
 
I’m sure our wise and sagely tech folks could probably clue you in on why but that’s the gist I get.

He gets around that with a virtual browser or something. Took him a month to figure out, though; February was Kein-free, though I doubt anyone noticed.
 
He really cares about his dupes.

I think it’s time to use a permaban crusher on kein. Some kind of cookie ban or something.

As a mod I see this all the time and it’s kind of funny in a way. I mean, it sucks but it’s like wiping your bum. It’s a nasty business but you’ve pretty much got to deal with it a couple of times a day. Otherwise things get pretty shitty.

To note is that in the past four days he’s not even tagging the artist, so that’s about 8ish not shown. Also the 2-3 that would be on the second page.
