The similarities of them are more then you think, especially knowing that their relationships is a toxic one.
the red equal sign indicates opaline and gothel being the gaslighters, where as the green ones shows misty and rapunzel being the victims of their own gaslighter there.
And yes I know that the relationship between misty and opaline isn’t as toxic as the other two there, yet please think about it, you’ll see that opaline is just using her to get what she wants, which is the magic that she thinks is rightfully hers, just like how gothel is using rapunzel to stay young with her own hair.
And yeah, they both gaslight them into thinking that everyone except their “mother figure” would not care about their well-being, and that they’re the only “friend” they have, which is a pure lie there for sure.

Oh well, perhaps Sunny or Izzy, I would say hitch as well yet he doesn’t really show much interest in being friends with misty, yet.

yeah true, yet with Rapunzel being taken as a baby, it’s not much of a stretch to assume that opaline did the same thing to misty, so yeah most gaslighters would likely take their victim at a very young age, and their young minds will end up seeing that their own parent figure is their kidnapper, and gaslighters uses it just to benefit themselves, sure some who gaslights their victim can allow them to leave when their adults, yet they can’t really be free from gaslighting without the truth, so yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if opaline lied to misty that all the ponies are evil, which is obviously not true one bit, and with misty being fully grown, she can leave yet she doesn’t have anywhere to go except with opaline, hence why she’s under the impression that the ponies around her are evil, of which they’re of course not, and once misty knows the truth, she’ll be able to see that mane 5 are very welcoming, as they always are.

As a psychologist, their relationship is very much a rapunzel and gothel situation. Its textbook parental emotional abuse and gaslighting. (also i cant say anything on frollo as idk what that is)
good thing I’m keeping my opinions as unbiased as I can, here.
