The biggest Problem is, G5 miss the Depth of G4.
It is extremly simple and flat.
It feels like, yes its the same Universe, but we have remove anything you know from G4 (if they have show a known Place in MyM then I not know it, because I not know Ep 3-8 so far).
I could accept G5 more, if they at last keep the old Places, but actuel it feel more like an Post Apocalyptic World, where none know the old World, except Sunny.

This Connection soud like they have get it from Matrix (Neo/Smith).

Make Your Mark have given evidence for the comics being canon as Twilight’s recording was consistent with what the comics established and the Mane 5’s lack of reaction to revealing she made the Crystals supports them hearing about it earlier in the comics.

MYM also has Twilight state they sought to keep magic out of Opaline’s hoofs and Opaline state’s Twilight an opponent proving them separate characters. (Their similarities are due to being good/evil counterparts as opposed to connected.)

Actual the Comic is not Canon as I know and by the Way Discord would not look like that as Imortal and Ageless Creature (if it is like this, then its a costume).
Comic 3 and 4 was much like a filler without any Part of the Crystal Story.

We know nothing about winged Unicorns (Unofficial Fanname Alicorn), if they age similar to the other 3 Races or if they have a longer Life.
It is possible that Celestia and Luna are no normal Ponys but the Personification of Sun and Moon, what would be some sort of Avatar or God (similar to Discord).
To Twilight, Hasbro once said something that maybe explain that she is a Mortal too, just another Race.
MLP Storywriter Megan McCarthy said “Twilight won’t outlive her Friends”.
There are many Discussions what this mean.
Some say the Quote is not Canon, other say Twilight will age the same Way as her Friends, just the elements give them all a longer Life (maybe 150-200 Years), another say Twilight and her Friends fuse to a single Creature.
Lauren Faust has made the Show of G4 and she had not planed more alicorns as Tia and Luna, Twilight was supposed to be an Unicorn who can use Levitation to fly.
So she is a normal Pony like her Friends.
Strange Thing is also that Twilight is in the Movie and in the Projection in her normal look like she was in the Show, so maybe S9E26 (The last Problem) is not Canon, if she has not her Twilight 2.0 (Celestia 2.0) Look.

Looking up the character name brings up some interesting results, “Opaline is a gemstone that promotes the meaning of love, passion, and desire. Whether a passion for a lover, a friend, a hobby or life’s goals, or a new adventure, Opaline is a stone that aligns you with your heart.”

I’m putting money that she is not Twilight, but another daughter of Cadance and Shining Armor, or a child of hers.

Think about the line she speaks about finally getting what she deserves and that, look at her design and the design of the place she is located, I have not been able to pin it yet, but I’m pretty sure this is the crystal empire area or an offshoot. The crystals in gen 5 also have a very similar function to the crystal heart. I do not think this is Flurry Heart as she is the wrong color, but she is also an Alicorn, that only leads to a few areas. They are also not trying to throw out gen4 those that think that they do not understand the story here. Gen 4 is tied directly into the story, and I wouldn’t be shocked if we find these new characters on adventures in locations we may have known in the past. There is a lot more here than people credit them for, you just need to understand this is a story, they are not going to give you all the answers from the start, or what is the point of doing a show?

From everything I have seen, been told, and am involved in MLP has a bright future ahead, just give it some time to get there, FiM didn’t pick up overnight either, it was not till season 2 that most of the big fan numbers started coming in. Just chill and enjoy the ride.

Although I like the idea that Twilight or Flurry Heart have been corrupted and come back as a villain…
I vote that she is possibly the daughter of one of the princesses (including Celestia, Luna and Twilight), since she thinks that the throne of Equestria should belong to her, typical of someone who lost their right to rule or something …

But also, I will be satisfied that she is an original character (without any connection with any known character).

Eeh… No. Opaline is Opaline. Twilight is Twilight. Hasbro would never do this. They probably want G4 to be long gone which it is weird since G5 references G4 a lot and it is even in the same universe. But they want G5 to be G5. No G4 characters.
