They tried something different, plus I don’t think they wanted them to overshadow Twilight.
Celestia’s is okay, and while I agree that Luna’s dress is definitly the worse of the two, I still feel like Celestia’s is far below the usual fashion standards of the show.
Celestia’s works well enough. Reminds me of a kimono.
Luna’s however, is terrible. And I think Celestia knows it.
Why she decided to pair the boss crown with one of Applejack’s dresss, we will never know.
