Like how Starlight was punished for what she did or how Discord got punished for his actions after he was released? Or Tempest? Consequences are one thing, but double standards are another.
Kill Twilight. Successfully.
You do remember Chrysalis was given an opportunity and literally slapped the hoof offered to her, and Tirek literally betrayed someone completely loyal to him. What more do they have to do before they’re irredeemable?
Yes.
Ah, so Chrysalis and Tirek should be redeemed too?
Still no more evil then any of the reformed villains, who were given multiple second chances.
Basically heroes shouldn’t bother wasting their time and just put some dirt in their eyes.
So let’s see. The first thing Cozy Glow did, on her own volition, was trap the Mane 6 in Hell and locked away Starlight while also draining her magic all so she could rule over the School of Friendship under the belief that Friendship is raw power. Then she joined two other villains to incite racial prejudice to distract the ponies so she could obtain magic to become all powerful and rule the world with force.
Except she was never actually given a second chance in any of those cases.
Third. Third chance. Remember she tried to take over Friendship School and got sent to Tartarus, then she aided in an invasion and got Stoned.
Or the magic keeping the prison active would fail and allow her to escape.
Good and Cute and Cozy.
They don’t have the same theme. Sunny wants to be friends with unicorns and pegasi because of what they are and not because of who they are. She didn’t even have any proof that they’re friendly.
Define “good”.
Don’t forget Coloratura ditching Sven Gallop when she opened her eyes to how he was manipulating her rather than helping her.
I’d argue that FiM had many good examples of choosing your friends wisely. In Rarity Takes Manehattan, Rarity is all too eager to share her fabric with Polomare, since they hit it off pretty well and she probably considered her a future friend. That came back to bite her when Polomare copied her line. In Wonderbolts Academy, Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust are initially in sync, but as LD becomes more reckless, RD distances herself and speaks out against her behavior. Just two examples that come to mind.
Ok, then??
A better idea then releasing Discord.
