I just listed in detail exactly how the world of Equestria could go from G4 where the Three Tribes were united and everyone could use Magic to G5 where it is in the future the Three Tribes are divided by racism and Magic has gone away. Celestia has been shown to be TOO obsessed with fulfilling the Destiny that she saw for Twilight Sparkle becoming the sole ruler of Equestria no matter what and to not have any of her friends be able to help her out on dealing with the more serious threats to her kingdom or even give her some pointers on how exactly the government is supposed to run (as shown in From Dusk To Dawn where she didn’t even bother to ask the other Nobles for help thinking that they weren’t even needed for the Royal Swanning or whatever was going on), I doubt that Celestia would even be aware that there would even be some greedy twisted motherfuckers in her own Court that have their own agendas that they would see someone as naïve as Princess Twilight Sparkle as the perfect way to pass more racist laws in their favor once Celestia and Luna both step down and Twilight is made the sole ruler of Equestria.
Essentially so; she’s supposed to be much better at flipping things on its head than this, in the flow of a conversation. She’d have been more likely to giggle dismissively, and then smugly ask them if she’s going to be their “charity case” now.
@Penguin Dragneel
Let me finish: The. Fuck. Did. I. Read.
(that’s a rhetorical question; a “doubled from literally 2000+ words to over 4000” response about the headcanons in more detail won’t make it much better. how did it derail like this…)
Edited because: tweaked wording
Agreed Rian sucks and Mlp and Stars endings suck so much so that people end up write better story to fix them
(I keep telling myself those three got out and Hekapoo still alive)
Edited because: spoiler
WHAT.
Your comments about the Unicorn Nobility reminded me of how Celestia basically doomed Equestria and damned Ponykind in the first place by establishing Princess Twilight Sparkle as her successor: an UNWORTHY successor if ever I’ve seen one.
Despite all that Princess Celestia has done to prepare for Twilight Sparkle, no matter how much she wanted for Twilight’s reign to be more memorable than Celestias’ own, but in the end:
“Only Caesar can lead the Legion.”
We have followed Twilight from the very beginning, and over time her natural sense of curiosity and leadership was slowly eroded over time, replaced solely by more and more of her blind faith in Princess Celestias’ very word. Since her first Coronation following her ascendance, she had surrendered herself completely to the whims of “Destiny”, a Destiny that wasn’t made by her own hooves, but decided upon by Celestia. Throughout Season 4, Twilight had struggled and lamented about trying to find her own place in this world; acting more like a lost little lamb than as a leader we had seen of her before, she had lost her sense of agency and drive to accomplish stuff on her own, turning instead for the approval of Celestia to go and do whatever it is commanded of her in that moment. If she lamented about not having anything to do that would qualify her position as Princess, she could have done a number of things in the months already following that she could have taken full advantage of, one of which I could believe she would have been perfect for: Starting an alliance of her own with the Diamond Dogs.
Beyond Twilight’s own diminished sense of agency and desire for leadership, there is also the matter of how Equestria has been built up and shaped over the course of 1000 years; shaped not by the scope and understanding of their own history, but by the scope and worship that its’ people have for Celestia: viewing her not as a mere ruler like Platinum, but as an eternal Goddess that is far above them.
Due to this uplifting, it has had profound effects on how the other Alicorns that lead Equestria operates by, viewing them not as equals to Celestia but as subordinate to Celestia herself in how important they are by comparison. One needs to look no further than this than with Celestia’s own sister Princess Luna; the unloved and abandoned younger sibling of Celestia who had lashed out at the world for not giving her the dues and accolades she had needed and were owed. Staying only within Celestia’s shadow for most of her tenure as ruler. When Luna finally couldn’t take the pain of loneliness any longer; she had rightfully lashed out at her sibling for how their own subjects that they should rule over together had treated Luna with scorn, fear, and even contempt. Instead of taking measures to resolve this problem or to talk it over with Luna like a responsible older sibling should, instead what we saw was the face of an unwavering ruler that wouldn’t bend the knee or even seek to reason with or appeal Luna to try calming her down; inflaming the hatred that Luna felt even further than she did before. And we all know the end result of that…
…What isn’t well-known is that Celestia herself had the power all along to help free her Sister from the Moon whenever she had felt like it, but simply endeavored to leave her trapped up there for 1000 years as the world went by; slowly forgetting more and more of Princess Luna and growing ever-fearful of the figure of Nightmare Moon as Celestia went about calling her as.
When she was finally released from her imprisonment, there was very little that Luna could actually do to lead Equestria. Regardless of whether she lived within the palace that Celestia had built, filled with servants that Celestia had chosen among the populace of ponies that all worshipped Celestia in cities that Celestia had controlled: Luna is knowingly now more alone than she had ever been before, all she could do now to avoid another 1000 years spent caged on the Moon is simply to nod and accept this new gilded cage that Celestia had fashioned for her own sister. A Slave and a Prisoner to Princess Celestia, in all but name.
Stepping away from familial matters, there is also the fact regarding the national defenses of Equestria being controlled at the whims of a mare that does not seem to care at all for her own peoples’ protection at the cost of their ideologies of Friendship and Destiny. A King that cannot protect their people properly is not a King. If you need an example of what a pacifistic leadership can bring, I offer not an example from within My Little Pony, but examples within the ever-fragile rulership of Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore, who herself had preached about pacifism, yet had left Mandalore defenseless from brigands and cartels due to her stance as the leader of the Neutral Systems during the height of the Clone Wars.
Or more-recently with the slow-to-action leadership of Mon Mothma when establishing the Alliance To Restore the Republic that saw the rise of the New Republic that had once more repeated the same mistakes of the Galactic Republic that caused its’ own downfall in the end.
All three leaders have one fundamental quality in-common, and it is the naïve belief that just because your own people are willing to agree to a rule of pacifism; does not mean that others within will just accept this, or that those outside will not try to take any advantage that presents itself to them. And such threats are indeed present beyond Equestria as there are threats within Equestria…
Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum: “If you want Peace, than prepare for War.”
To really think that a group such as large as The EEA can act upon their own against the authority of the Royal Sisters is an anomaly in itself is considered ignorance at its’ best. There are very well those within such positions of power and authority that have grown insular to control portions of the government for themselves with Celestia being completely unaware of their involvement or even of their very actions, and probably were more emboldened by how lackadaisical Celestia was during the 1000 year reign that saw the Royal Guard growing more and more incompetent and complacent over the years; a standard that wouldn’t have been helped along further unless the Nobles had manipulated it to such a degree in the first place; especially if they wanted to take control over Equestria without the active knowledge of the Sun Princess and later the Royal Sisters. The racist ideologies once preached by the Equestrian Education Association isn’t at the root of things, there is also the general attitude that exists between Pegasi and Unicorns towards Earth Ponies; who even after leaving Equestria are still at the very bottom of the totem pole due to how little influence they even have to stand up against Weather-Manipulation and Magical-Prowess, something that was taken advantage of by the Legion of Doom just days before the Coronation.
For all that we do know, there are probably Pro-Unicornia Nobles within Canterlot that are holdouts of the beliefs once held by them from the days of Princess Platinum when they resolved to move and create Equestria, Pro-Unicornias that are waiting for the right moment to at long last strike out and take control over Equestria: having already brought the Seat of Power within Equestria to the city of Canterlot as opposed to the Castle Of Two Sisters. And now with such an impressionable mare like Twilight Sparkle now on the throne: a Princess who has no agency of her own, who is now brought far away from her friends and has chosen to take Celestias’ place within Canterlot; she is now easily THE most vulnerable pawn in their little game that all of them WILL be taking full advantage of: an Alicorn that is in possession of not just sole rulership of Equestria, but of a device that can allow one to move the Sun and Moon at will on their own without needing to sacrifice their own Magical abilities in the process.
If you doubt the veracity of this claim, and want proof of it happening: I shall bring your attention to nowhere else but Alicornundrum, the third part of the Nyxverse Saga written by Ralph “Reality Check” Hayes Jr. In the seventh chapter, Twilight Sparkle is made aware of an incident that had happened following her Ascendancy and her Coronation; her father parttook in a number of celebratory toasts that congratulated his own childs’ Ascension, yet during the festivities Duke Blueblood had hoofed over a sheet of parchment while dear Night Light was completely hammered and told to sign it, when he finally became sober hours later did he realize exactly what it was that Night Light had signed: A Marriage Contract. A Marriage Contract that had promised the newly-crowned Princess Twilight Sparkle to Prince Blueblood. Naturally when he and Twilight Velvet went to go and try to annul the contract did Duke Blueblood read them both the fine print that says should the Marriage be annulled, than the entirety of Sparkles’ Estate and Wealth will be taken by Duke Blueblood for compensation. While the situation would be resolved, it just goes to show exactly how underhanded and competent certain ponies can be when they see something to take advantage of.
With all of that in-mind, it is very easy to see how in G5 Equestria had fallen once Twilight Sparkle was given control over it all. It was a nation that was solely built by Princess Celestia, and could only truly be ruled by Princess Celestia, regardless of whatever policies Twilight Sparkle would have tried to enact.
Just wait for Cozy to “dig out” the TRUTH out of this two foolish mares: They are doing this for TWILIGHT´s sake (they never really “cared” about this evil filly).
-> The only reason Rarity & Fluttershy would NEVER STOP “trying” to “heal” Cozy, is because Twilight is unwilling to ever stop being a stone statue UNTIL all 3 of the villains get “reformed” [or manage to kill themselves “from the inside” ( somehow )].
Cozy is smart enough to eventually realize that she has NO OTHER CHOICE (willingly “surrender” & brainwashing herself into a puny pathetic polite pony, is likely only just a bit less worse than dying & risk a reincarnation into the same).
-> She can always delay the inevitable (just to torture this 2 mares directly, while getting Twilight & the rest “bored” and/or preocupied that Rarity & Fluttershy are taking SO LONG on “reforming” a filly).
[TL;DR] I believe that [after she is “convinced”], Cozy Glow would had to be put in a “witness protection program” equivalent to hide her identity for the rest of her life.
-> It should be posible (only for her, not the whole trio) to “hide” her true identity IF she accepts to both change her name & permanently dye her coat & mane of other colors [her cutiemark is not “unique enough” to need camouflage or Starlight´s curse/replacement].
[Alternatively: Just “exile” her to the Equestria Girls world (alongside Tirek & Chrysalis)].
Edited
NOPE. That was never an option.
. The key difference between Starlight Glimmer & Cozy, is that all of the “world ending” bad things the former did happened IN SECRET; while Cozy Glow made a “public show” of overthrowing Cancellor Neighsay, then accusing the Student Six of betraying Equestria by trying to exile ALL_Arcana_magic (plus Starlight) out of their Realm… Forever!
. [offscreen] Neighsay must have revealed what he knew about Cozy Glow to others (nobles who trust him), in order to get an audience with Celestia & Luna in that moment of crisis (who may just refuse to “deal” with him based on their previous non_cordial encounter back in S08E02).
Without this previous step, they may have choosed to not involve the whole “army” of Equestria in a massive assault against Ponyville [something “overkill” for just a teen pegasus, but likely insuficient IF she were to use all of that accumulated magic to EMPOWER herself (or to give it all to Tirek, still presumed to be behind the whole event)].
-> It was TOO LATE to try to “contain” the specific information regarding the identity of this “magic stealer” (Cozy Glow,
a filly pegasusthe “ex-right_hoof” of Twilight Sparkle), so she HAD to be “punished acordingly” to her crimes [otherwise Celestia & Luna may had to deal with a Civil War incited from the Canterlot Elite].. (Even by the end of the series), for the common populace Starlight Glimmer was still as unknown as Trixie Lullamoon [in relative “massive” terms, since of course both are “known” by name in certain places, even admired by a few]. While the NAME of Tirek may not be known by many, everypony who was targeted by him saw what he was (a centaur) & understood what he did (“eating” magic from ponies), simply because his powers REQUIRE being on close visual range.
. Ponies in general did not really understood WHAT Cozy Glow did or HOW exactly, but it was still clear that it was something she did REMOTELY, without anypony being able to stop it.
-> She MUST be prevented to being able to repeat this “process” (she can not be allowed to be free, or to have a chance of escape).
Everything else does not matter. She was a MENACE for the “Life Style” of those in power & comfort (the Noble Elite that DEPENDS on potions to work & their “unicorn servants” to do their menial jobs for them).

I just find it completely out-of-place for a series that for the longest time has been known for the aspects of Forgiveness and Redemption of its bad guys and having shown us some aspect of a deeper emotional bond with the trio that the writers decided to simply have them be punished for a crime that Discord himself was entirely responsible for causing in the first place while he winds up not only going scot-free for planning to commit treason and weaponizing already defeated enemies in the first place, but that he gets the audacity to decide their punishment by means of doing the very thing he said he was against doing in the first place when we met him back in Season 2.
It was the very moment that the series had completely jumped its shark and the whole narrative had fallen apart that I did not care to watch it any longer. I still haven’t seen the entirety of The Last Problem on principle because of The Ending of The End and of how Twilight basically started her tyrannical rule through these “Lessons” that Celestia enthralled her with.

I feel even if said “plebeians” did know know about this, they most likely wouldn’t care. To them, those three were just faceless monsters that could be used as figurative and literal toys. Still, thanks for giving me new target practice. Rian Johnson has the most metaphorical blood on his hands in my eyes, now.
Edited
forgive these plebians, they seem to not understand narrative choices such as “Tone” and “Consistency” when it comes to how a story or setting is designed to operate by. Without either, the entire narrative would fall apart in much the same way as when things like “Jumping the Shark” and “Character Assassination” are brought into play.
And I think I know where it all stemmed from with how Seasons 8 & 9 had decided to create a twist villain in the form of Cozy Glow without trying to actually build up to her, and the answer is a very simple game of “Follow-The-Leader” as Jim Miller had played so often with so many other TV Show creators. Who was this so-called Leader, exactly? Why it was this particular assface!
Jim Miller created the Cozy Glow and Grogar twists just because he saw and heard the medias’ take on Rian Johnson’s “The Last Straw” and had just like the directors of the Series finale of Star vs. The Forces of Evil decided to follow the Media without once trying to consider how their own fans would even react to such character assassinations and the inevitable backlash it would bring about for their shows’ respective final outings that have left so many of us filled with division and hate years afterwards.
It really isn’t when your complaint is entirely based off the characters canon actions.
Discord is no better the the trio, and Celestia’s arguably less trustworthy then he is.
If thats a counterpoint you feel is unrelated, I must state that that is incorrect.

What part of “I’m stopping this” did you not understand?
She felt zero remorse because she wasn’t ever given a second chance, unlike Starlight, who did similarly evil things and Discord, who did multiple horrible things ever since his release.
She literally tried to take over the world twice, and felt zero remorse for it.
Whatever. I know how this’ll end up, so I’m stopping this right now.
Yes, it was. She did not deserve to be stuffed in a cage let alone be turned to stone and I don’t see how its tone deaf.
That’s an argument for another day.
@Background Pony #B506
Doesn’t make it any less tone-deaf.
Also, no it wasn’t.

First, their trying to rehabilitate her, not further antagonize her. Second, her punishments were overkill considering her lack of any sort of special powers, the lack of any sort of trial prior to her imprisonment and the fact that others who did things as bad as she did are now either free or were never punished for them in the first place.
Celestia’s put the entire world at risk, Discord has done and continues to do worse but gets a pat on the head every time he does.
Did the writers of the show understand what they wrote?
Did the author even read what they wrote?
Mainly it’d only just be Twilight Sparkle. Name one time after Bookhorse’s Ascendancy when Princess Celestia calls to them as a group to complete a task and say that ONLY Twilight Sparkle should be the one to actually succeed in doing it at its end.
I’m surprised that Twilight Sparkle has the patience of a saint after everything that Princess Celestia sends her off half-cocked to try and do for the particular week without any support. If we were being realistic here, than the events of Parting Words would have been the true Canonical beginning of Season 3.
