I know it is unfair to our very excellent mods who are underpaid and hard working.
 
But when I first came to Derpi the guideline was “a small amount of meta is fine”, and most of the content was high quality art.
 
Now like 30% of the stuff is meta “noise” or “retweet”. Imflamatory (re)posts are tolerated more than they should be. I can’t be there in every thread explaining what is out of context/unsourced/old. Yet many causal users are mislead by these.
 
I’m not sure if being half an art, half a social media site, in other words the old Ponibooru reborn with all its glaring faults, was the best thing that could have happened. I don’t think we NEED a lot of the text/meta/twitter/4chan reposts because it is very rare when they import awesome stuff. Mostly it’s just some irresponsible joker importing stupidity.

I think people need to chill out and not take everything so seriously. Like, like learn to roll with it or even have fun with it when someone is trying to troll you or your friends.

For me, I don’t care if anyone agrees with me. I just want to be understood. I guess I wouldn’t mind some civil discussion. Like, I support Twilacorn, and I was talking with some guy that was really against it. We actually agreed on many points, and that we’re both hoping that it’s handled well in Season 4. We both love the show. We both don’t want to see something good go south.
 
My point is, good things can happen and more fun can be had by all if we keep our cool. I’m all for having fun. That’s why I’m here! :D

Actually anonymity gives us the opportunity to be assholes without real-life consequences. Its a scientific phenomenon, which has been widely studied. I don’t remember its name, but its legit, from what i can tell.

We’re capable of getting along quite well for the most part– it just seems to me that the people voicing their negativity are getting louder and higher in numbers.
 
I’m tired of the “Well, it’s the nature of the internet!” reasoning. No, it’s not the nature of the internet. It’s an excuse of the internet that is used to perpetuate the habit. Behind every comment is a person who has to make the decision to say something and I find it hard to believe that so many of us are incapable of not being total jerks.
 
It doesn’t have to be like this and acting so disrespectful is not making our fandom a better place.
