You mean that the Storm King died? The only deaths we see in the movie are the Storm King and a countless number of Storm Creatures that got burned by Spike and/or get sucked up by the cyclone. No matter how many Storm Creatures died, or arrested, or executed. We even see a least number of them being reformed and know peace in the ending credits. Well, 16-17 of them precisely.

Nope. The Mane Six including Flutershy, Tempest Shadow, Capper, Captain Celaeno and her crew, and Princess Skystar all successfully defeated the Storm King and the Storm Army and saved Equestria from the Storm King after he was kicked off the throw and gives up his crown.

Abyssinia seemed to be more accessible than Mount Aris as the Mane 6 was there several years earlier (IDW comics), yet so far away that airships are needed to travel there. Also, the royal couple who had experienced having Abyssinia looted and left in ruins after the Storm King, were aware of the conqueror’s fall during the combats in Canterlot because there was a conference on the aftermath of his fallen empire on Mount Metazoa in IDW FiM # 61 over one year to two years before Twilight took over the throne of Equestria. They were there on Mount Metazoa to consult with the other monarchs.
 
And an embassy was opened in Canterlot probably in the S9 timeline during IDW Comic 2020 (pencils) where the abyssinian ambassador paid a visit to the royal palace where she met Twilight and her friends. It was during the same time period as the Nightmare Knight Arc that Capper asked for the service of Princess Luna for “the liberation of my homeland”. It is possible that Abyssinia was occupied by the Storm Kings’ subjects, and that the royal couple had gone to Mount Metazoa to get assistance against the occupation. In that case, Luna had possibly intervened to end the occupation, and in return, the embassy was opened not long after.
 
But then this young man came forward and took the throne, who then justified his claim by referring to magic as a crucial element of the disaster that came with the Storm King. We still know from Movie: prequel that the invasion had happened with a minimum of magic - the Storm King was after magic rather than having magic on his side, and he plundered Panthera, only to find that only a cursed object was left in it royal treasury. We know that the king of Abyssinia was a magician, who gave up magic because it did not work in his eyes after the confrontation with the dragonequus Cosmos - it was Discord’s fault at the time.
 
If the son took power in the middle of the uproar over the final on S9 and the coronation of Twilight as the reigning princess, it may explain why little had come to Canterlot where they were probably only informed about the rules for travelers, including the ban on visible magic - this became powerful sharpened shortly afterwards. It is possible that the ambassador in Canterlot was not aware of the new king. And we do not know the details, but King Meowmeow immediately thought Capper was a threat to him by having “foreigners” with him - who he knows were ponies from Equestria. It may be that the embassy in Canterlot was kept in ignorance.
 
By then, Fluttershy and her expedition had entered a mined area without warning.

I’m assuming Abyssinia is within walking distance of Mount Aris, so wouldn’t Queen Novo or Princess Skystar already tell the Cat rulers this?
