Description
Here is another NPC of the ongoing online Tails of Equestria Pen and Paper RPG I am playing at the moment.
Technically Mycologia Mushroom (usually abbreviated to “Myc” by her friends) is a miner but compared to fellow miner ponies such as Scarlet Temper and Tunnel Vision she is not so much after metal ores as she is after mushrooms growing in the mining tunnels. Unsurprisingly she is a veritable expert about Mushrooms, their edibility, toxicity, and other effects.
She offered Crisp (the gourmet among the player characters) a mushroom while eating the same type of mushroom herself. While the two were still chewing Myc pointed out that it was one of the most poisonous existing mushrooms of which a tiny bite would cause death… but as she continued it is the dose that makes the poison. A small bite of that mushroom would be lethal while eating the whole thing would (as Myc pointed out) include such a dose of poison that the poison would poison the poison to the point that the eater would no longer get poisoned.
However that may be the very tasty mushroom gave Crisp some mild colorful halucinations.
As always with the NPC images of our pen and paper RPG there is also a version with reduced opacity to let the parchment background shine through.

Fair enough
Is there a new one? The Tails of Equestria rule books I got are the basic rules, the bestiary and the book about the world and creatures of the my little pony movie. To be honest though I hardly ever consulted these books when preparing our Tails of Equestria game. They are very beautiful books and a mine of information on many aspects. Tut with the focus of the game in our group very much on character play and solving of myths and riddles there are not too many instances where the rules come to bear (though dice roles often decide about the outcome of players attempts at things that are actions one could reasonably expect to work out all the time).
A main part in the preparation of a game with more than 50 NPCs is to plan how the actions of the players and their interactions with NPCs are going to influence the world, the NPCs and also the NPCs attitutes towards the players and other NPCs.
It is very important for me to let the players see that their actions (or omissions) have consequences in the world of the game and sometimes the players have to make decisions that are not a simple and obvious decision between good and bad. At the same time I want to keep the world “my little pony style” (e.g. violence not as a solution to go for etc.). Sometimes it is a challange not to make the world “too good” so the issues and problems of the world would “fix itself” without any need for the intervention of the player characters.
I need to get my group going again with another adventure. Have you taken a look at the Compendium that just came out?
Thank you very much, MightyShockwave :)
I’m curious to see how the tails of Equestria will continue and which decisions the group of players is going to make. Their decisions will play a huge role in which of the many NPCs characters are going to play a prominent role in the “solutions” to the adventure.
