Tone scraper returns! For whatever reason, I decided to give Dash a darker skin tone than usual to go more with the ‘southern pacific islander’ vibe that’s worked its way into my head for her.
Her weapon choice and Burst/elemental skill came to me like a story, so here’s Dash’s Vision entry:
Dash is from the Inazuma islands in Teyvat. She always wanted to be a strong swordsman like her father, but being tiny and not particularly suited to gaining muscle, she could never get to the point where she could reliably swing a great sword. Then, one day, her island was visited by a fruit trader that mostly brought apples with them. She met another girl, much, much larger in stature than her who wore the very thing she wanted on the small of her back. Bulky to the point of almost being manly, Dash was captivated by her strength and size. Not shy in the slightest, she walked right up to her and challenged her to a duel. Humoring the ‘little girl’ as this strange foreigner called her, they fought and Dash was swiftly dealt with.
“How can I be like you?”
The foreigner, puzzled by the sudden question after their bout, thought about it for a short while.
“Like me, huh? Time, effort. Bodies like mine ain’t somethin’ just anybody can have, now. But, more than anythin’, diligence, and the will ta keep workin’, knowin’ that yer efforts will be paid off. Even if it seem hopeless, the work must be done.”
After the foreigners left, Dash devoted herself to her ideal to become a warrior like that stranger. Days, weeks, months passed, until the foreigners returned with more fruit to sell. Again, upon seeing the other girl, now even bigger than before, Dash challenged her again. Hoplessness set in shortly after the fight began. Again and again, she was beaten back, making no headway, not even a dent, in what seemed to be the infinite stamina of the foreigner. However, she never did stop fighting. It was only after the foreign girl decided to end the fight with her Geo Vision, that things changed.
Upheaving the earth with ease, the foreign girl launched a mass of ground at Dash. Desperately fighting off that horrible despair, she ran back in to continue the fight. Suddenly, she felt the wind at her back. Rather than take the force of the rock the foreign girl launched at her, Dash simply jumped over it. Higher and higher she rose into the air, almost as if the wind itself was hers to control. Taking her little katana in both hands, willing the wind to make her dreams come true, she launched after her opponent. For the first time, she managed to make the foreign girl stagger with her own strength. And then, almost comically, Dash was knocked out by the foreign girl with a swift fist to the back of the head.
When Dash finally woke up, the foreign girl was waiting at her bedside. Before Dash could even ask, the foreign girl explained,
“While Ah was expectin’ ta see ya improve, Ah wasn’t expectin’ ya ta get a Vision of yer own mid fight. Congratulations. Looks like the wind has its eye on ya.”
