They still sent a C&D, thus forcing people to stop their free promotional non-profit creative fan project. And since it was never affiliated with Hasbro, it would not have given them a “bad name” if there were any such fears either. It would just serve to generate interest; something that companies pay top dollar for.

Petitions don’t work unless the people you are petitioning explicitly say that it will change their mind, or if they even give a fuck. Which in this situation seem unlikely that either of those circumstances exist.
 
But I think I’ve changed my stance on petitions in this situation, because I want Hasbro’s legal team to get flooded with people sending them shit like this. I want as much of their time wasted on this as possible, because fuck them.

with just reminds me of 100,000 strong and Capcom DID SAY that if they reached thier goal, plus got people to sign on to their site to become a serv-bot they would try to bring MML3 back, and THEY DID reach 100,000 signeture over 40,000 more on the website and Capcom has yet to back up their word and used the engine MML3 was using on another game. So I feel this is doomed from the start. let’s face it. Hasbro dosn’t want MLP to be that popular, I mean sueing people for making a fee game based off the cartoon? Not even capcom was that big a dickhead to sue fangames of Megaman.

You misunderstand. The other one’s goal wasn’t just 200, it was a milestone. When that goal was passed, the goal then became 500. After that occurs, it’ll probably jump up to 1000, and so on.

The goal’s much closer to something that might actually have some weight to it than the other one (Seriously, 200? Pffft you couldn’t get a forum to rescind someone’s ban for 200 signatures) but the content of the petition itself isn’t structured in a very presentable manner.

Sorry to say, but this petition isn’t going to do squat. It sucks, yes, but the bottom line is that what Mane6 were doing was illegal, and that Hasbro was in the right to protect their property.
