Basically, because Rarity shows nothing but annoyance or, at best, exasperation with Pinkie Pie half the time. At best she generally humors her, and relates to her as one would a child or younger sibling, which I think most people can agree doesn’t really work as a starting ground for a realistic relationship. It works for the sake of cuteness, and that’s about it.

I dont hate rarijack. The reason I may not defend it as much as my own OTP’s because it frankly is one those ships that frankly don’t need defending.

Most ships have to stretch things, usually from the “good friends” part to full blown romance. And we’ve already seen these two are good friends, so I don’t see why this one makes any less sense than the others.
That’s true, but when you actually consider their personalities and how they relate to each other in the show, it doesn’t make a lot of sense without REALLY stretching things (and even then I’m not sure). And especially when there are other ships for either one of them that make a lot more sense.
As long as it’s all for fun and I’m not required to take it seriously, though, it can be okay.

Detailed post about how the ship can work because of the dynamic between the two characters and how they both have differences that contrast each other and similarities they can both relate to, allowing them to strengthen their relationship, just to shut a naysayer?

well, no if you really look at their personaites, (granted tbis works with a lot of ships) you can often find thing for thek to grow and start a relationship on.
Only if you totally disregard the character’s personalities.
But I don’t have a problem with it for the sake of fanart.
I’m not going to go into a blackbewhite explanation, but it does work, believe me.
