“Mild Gloooow!”
Derpy Hooves’ familiar drawled voice fought its way down the hallway, through Mild Glow’s locked door and under her bedsheets where it pierced her ears. Maybe if she didn’t reply, the call to responsibility would go away.
“Mild Glow?”
Surely MG’s silence was an indicator of wanting to be left alone? Then again, her mothers always had trouble understanding the concept.
“Mild Glow!”
Oh great, now it was Twilight’s voice and it was right outside her room. And the tone of her voice was…strangely ecstatic? Like “I just discovered something amazing in regards to magic” or “I can’t believe these two got together in this book so now my theories are canon” kind of ecstatic? The idea of enduring a lecture about either sent shivers down Mild Glow’s spine.
“We have company, you know….not the normal kind!”
Ah. It was at times like this she wished she had been born a unicorn so she could teleport out of their treehouse to avoid whatever was about to go down, or make a clone that she could switch in with every other day so she could at least catch a break and split up the work of trying to be a nobody between four extra hooves. Unfortunately, she was still huddled up in bed and bitter despite all of the will she tried to put into disappearing.
Then she heard the door unlock.
She jerked up, absolutely appalled. Her mothers had followed her one rule of “don’t unlock the door without asking” for about a decade at this point, so the fact they would be so bold as to break it now–
Wait… what in Celestia’s mane was that? Tiger claws….a flowy mane like cotton candy…snake tails, talons, sharp eyes; it was far too much to take in for the sleep deprived pony and left her with a dropped jaw and fluffed up feathers. Not only was this…this THING something that was possible, it was also floating and coming towards her.
“H-Hey–” Mild Glow began to stammer, but the creature spoke now, in a…rather soothing and carefree voice, which was honestly more terrifying than if she had just started barking and meowing.
“Hello there! Mild Glow, was it? I’ve heard so much about you, what with the letters your mother sends to Celestia and all…My name is Suave, and I’ll be staying here from now on so I can learn more about ponies, your lives, your souls, and most importantly, your emotions!” Her smile, which was full of sharp teeth, was not in the slightest reassuring. When Mild Glow wanted to see if her mothers shared this sentiment, all she saw were two horses beaming and bouncing with unbridled joy.
Twilight Sparkle hardly contained her squeal of excitement and stepped forward through the doorway to squeeze past the draconequus. “Aren’t you so excited?! You get a sibling, but without the wait!” Derpy Hooves came up beside her and nodded in agreement. Mild Glow, however, was slowly shaking her head and backing into her pillows.
This is a dream. This HAS to be a dream.
The thing–no, her name was Suave or something?– spoke once more, as soft as a feather but as suspicious and unsettling as a sunshower at night.
“I absolutely cannot wait for you to be my first pony friend, well, besides Her Majesty….oooh, look at how small your room is! And your bed is so tiny too! Oh, you ponies are so interesting!”
This is totally a dream. This thing cannot be a thing. Suave? That’s a stupid name. What a dumb, dumb name–
Mild Glow let out a cry as she was suddenly suspended into the air, making Twilight gasp with delight while Derpy Hooves looked more or less dumbfounded…which wasn’t unusual. Suave was holding up the young mare with but a single digit and an intense curiosity in her eyes. Mild Glow looked back down, terrified not of Suave, but what this would mean. No longer an only child, daily interactions with a stranger, less food, more talk, being shoved into bonding activities, sharing the house, and worst of all…sharing her parents.
…This isn’t a dream, is it?
~~~
Mild Glow meets Suave for the first time…goes good for some but not for some others LOL
Twilight and Derpy think the two get along, what with being homeschooled hermits not used to other ponies, and desperately needing socialization and more relationships….however, this will turn out to be a recipe for disaster
hope you enjoyYYy!
