Have you…even LOOKED or LISTENED to Steven Magnet or Gilda?

Season 1 was intended to be enjoyed by all. There has never been given any other explanation for their characters other then they were gay, and had issues, ESPECIALLY GILDA, stemming from that.

“Do you honesly think that “punk lesbian dyke stereotype” would honestly be going through the creative team’s heads?”

Apparently so, since Gilda was created, and the entire episode was BASED on that subtext of her feelings for Dash.

Are you listening to what you’re saying? This might be beating a dead horse (forgive the pun), but before the show starting to pander to the fans, season one was intended for little girls.

Do you honesly think that “punk lesbian dyke stereotype” would honestly be going through the creative team’s heads?

Honestly, you’re affirming the consequent here:

  1. There are certain sterotypes for gay men & women.
  2. Certain characters may loosely or barely fit the requirements of stereotypes.
  3. Therefore, those characters MUST be gay.

So, yeah. I’ll wait until I hear more concrete evidence from the show before I decide stereotypes define a character first.

“that’s up to the magic of your imagination”

That’s regarding the main characters. (facepalm) Unless you have the thickest skull on earth, Gilda and Steven Magnet didn’t leave much to the imagination. Honest to god. Gilda’s design, motivation and persona was explicitly a punk lesbian dyke stereotype. And Steven Magnet was just flaming fabulous gay.

Given the themes of this show, mutual feelings between 13 year old dragons and 19 year old ponies is perfectly acceptable.

I cannot believe you didn’t pick up on the fact that Fleur was an escort. Most of the fandom picked up on that immediately.

I think I missed the part where anyone in the show was ever confirmed to be gay or bisexual or whatever. Stephen Magnet is just fabulous and Gilda is another tomboy like Dash.

I’m not saying that they’re explicitly not gay, or that they can’t or shouldn’t be gay - that’s up to the magic of your imagination! But don’t act like there’s all these confirmed sexualities floating around.

And Fancy Pants had a female friend who was probably his partner. Given the themes of the show I very much doubt she was supposed to be an escort.

Gilda being gay was about as much of a secret as Steven Magnet being gay.

I honestly don’t see why some people get into such a hissy fit about when fans assume some of the Mane 6 are gay, when there are already gay characters within the show.

Its not like them not being 100% straight would make them any different characters.

Or sexual in general for that matter. Unless people are blind, Fancy Pants had a freakin’ ESCORT with him. A lot classier then a hooker, but the point still remains.
