True…which is why a slice-of-life episode about her would work so well.
Even if we got just a glimpse of it, we already know outside of royal duties she is a very laid back, and sociable character.
Is just the other ponies that are intimidated by her title and become very formal when she is around. The mane6 are already over it.
This.
This so much. In fact, I am already seeing it. Celestia being the focus as Twilight bombards her with questions as she tries to have a normal day without doing anything princessly. There, one episode idea which involves this development which doesn’t force the situation to act like it would if she wasn’t a princess.
Till now, no princess quitted to be an alicorn. What would be the point to make it temporary to begin with?
There is much more and more reasonable reasons to think is permanent than temporary.
Because of the synopsis stating she will go into her destiny and become a princess, and the way McCarthy speaks of it.
Well, studies show people actually take different opinions depending upon the color of things being presented. And that’s only a portion of it. So, yes, a physical change will normally elicit a mental change, even if it just a subconscious change in behavior.
Don’t want to fight you, just pointing out that you aren’t in the right in that respect.
@BroDash
Tell that to women who change behavior after getting larger breast, men who change as they become thinner, or just generally everyone who gets a change to their image that make others act different towards them. This isn’t even a show stuff, this is how things work in real life and it is actually a good thing.
@Background Pony
So… rehash a previous episode, BUT IN SPA– I mean, WITH WINGS!!!
The hysteria is ridiculous, true, but one can’t escape the fact this will definitely have to change the formula greatly, or otherwise it will seem force and pointless.
I think she became royal when her brother married Cadence.
I totally can see that. Her crazy side is not triggered willingly. It could even become worst, cause of the pressure that would give to her.
I can imagine it perfectly: an episode inwhich Celestia give her some royal duty, Twilight fall under the pressure of doing it perfectly, and you know what happen next.
Same as always. And anyway is been 3 season they are learning lessons about the same things, some change is necessary.
If bronies wanna see always the same things and situations there is an easy way to do that: rewatch the previous seasons.
A personality change and a physical change are two separate things. How are you not able to comprehend that? What kind of simple-minded mindset are working with where an upgrade in responsibility equals a complete personality switch? Does a promotion at work involve going through brain-washing machine? Do you think changing the new color edition of a book cover somehow change the story too? It’s boggling so much of you can’t understand that.
The big change is in her responsibilities, but there is absolutely nothing that says she’ll auto-switch her character. The wings are figuratively and literally a new level to take these new challenges on, and she can’t very well do that without building upon her own experience and personality.
There, I could have just said that. It’s a new build atop her character, not a discarding. This isn’t a matter of eating or having my cake, it’s putting up posts and firing the ovens to make another layer.
Or the writers are very good and manage to find a sweet spot.
I would rather stay positive, and thus stick to that. Worse case scenario, I still have 65 episode to watch again and merchandise I already bought, so I just take my interest and money elsewhere should it turn shitty.
Can you seriously see her doing all those above after receiving a title of honor and power? Because, while I rather wait before giving judgement, but that’s going to be a very tough sell.
That said, I seem to dislike a lot of what most other people like (I still find the reformation of Discord to be cool to look at, but just terrible as an episode, and so on), so maybe it is just me.
The people defending the change seem to want it both ways– they will argue “Twilight Sparkle needed to change, she was a stagnant character and the show has no-where left to go!” and in the same breath they say “don’t worry, her personality and characterization won’t change at all, she just has wings now!”
You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Either this was a stupid change that will have no impact on her character other than ruining her character design, or it is a big change that means Twilight as we knew her is gone.
Would be a great reason to re-introduce Chrysy and have her feed of Twilight’s admiration for a pony that cares about her, while in turn destroying the pony’s ideals towards her friends.
I thought Hasbro didn’t allow villains anymore.
I thought that dress was beautiful on her.
Although I do hope they have a villain who will use Twilight’s alicorn status to his/her advantage somehow (like make Twilight think her friends see her as royalty, and will treat her differently because of it).
