What about digital releases?
If the home of Zecora is located in southwestern Africa where the legend of the monster Grootslang is found, it will be too dry and hot for sea creatures in the countryside. Possibly these had to transform to have hind legs to move, and to have an “armor” of water around them against the dry air.
If the colored zebra is Marini, it’s very strange to see a non-black and white zebra. Just hope that Andyprice has a lot of black color for the zebras in the story, as this will be expected. It will be interesting to see how zebras coexist with the abadas and the sea kelpies.
On the cover we can see Zecora’s friends, but do not yet know where to place their names. The two front ones are possible kelpies, but they are different, one in front, “slim pony” different from the other in the back. She in the back is very reminiscent of the kelpies seen in # 23 and # 24 with her hair style and sharp lines in the profile.

But there was already a kelpie in an early issue.
Grootslang - Tempest and Rockhoof face a real challenge with this monster. Certainly bigger than an elephant as it should have a snake body with elephant head.
From what the covers show, it is possible that the home of Zecora lies in a landscape between the sea and the savannah with sandy landscape facing the sea beaches. More like southwestern Africa than inner Africa. It may mean the traveling companion may have gone on the sea from Equestria, although it is uncertain. In any case, it should be remembered that Africa is much larger than both Europe and America.
Well there was early concept art for an MLP movie that featured Grootslang, but not the way you think.
Okapi, calling it now.
The one in front is a zebra, just not the usual black and white.
My gosh! Fluttershy, what have they done to you?!
