Yes yes I know he’s just hamming it up big time here, it’s actually a great opening, but really? FFVIII is not as bad as what came after it? That is seriously questionable at best. That’s like saying, for example, President Obama is worse than the previous President Bush (which is an outright fucking lie). You could argue it got worse after FF8 but FF8 is still really fucking terrible, at least playing any FF after 8 doesn’t involve a dumb as rocvks story or an agrivating draw magic system.

So, let’s put it that way: Some people really dislike VIII and X (and, in my oppinion, those are a bit subpar when compared to the earlier FF games and IX), but they sure as hell aren’t that bad compared to what came after them- from X-2 to XIV.

It’s been said but yeah, FF IX. Ties with VI for my favorite.
 
I don’t find VIII to be that bad. There were some pretty funny moments in it. Though I agree with Terry on the draw system.

Eh, he kinda fell off my radar back around the time he did reviews/MST3K take on “Yor, the Hunter” and “Dragon Strike” … and maybe also when he reviewed that one old British gameshow. I must admit, at the time, he was better than Retsupurae at emulating the MST3K style.

@Background Pony From what I hear he’s no more worse than that other guy that tried to take his place, can’t remember the exact recorded audio I came across but it didn’t exactly paint a good picture of the guy. Plus there was all the critics saying he was just a corporate monkey or something or other, probably be just as much a flop as everyone says Obama is.

Well he’s had four friggin’ years and the only thing BO’s had to show for himself is Bin Laden at the bottom of the ocean. Whoopdy-friggin-doo, you added more to our debt than all past administrations combined after having said as a senator and candidate that such a thing was immoral. Bush sucks, but Obama’s no spring chicken either.

Actually, in terms of policy, Obama IS worse than Bush. But of course, liberals live in denial and believe Democrats can do no wrong, so whatever.
 
And as for Final Fantasy, IX was fantastic so I know he’s must be trolling, and most whiners aside who complain mostly about Tidus(and ignore his character development and whine about the badly dubbed laughing scene) X was probably one of the best games in the series.

My only real problem with 10 was that the dubbing was terrible and ruined what should have been a fun experience hearing spoken dialogue for the first time in a Final Fantasy title.

I’ve never been able to get into JRPGs at all. They (or at least the ones I’ve tried) never seemed to offer as much role playing opportunity as WRPGs like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, and am turned off by many of the things Spoony criticizes them for.
