I think there are people who get annoyed by people being “loud” about it or spreading/perpetuating misinformation. I for one do find it kind of annoying when I am watching a YouTube video or viewing an image and all everyone is talking about in the comment section is nothing but “X and Y are gay.” Just enjoy the cartoon about the talking magic rainbow Ponies, people.
 
This particular image is specifically about a ship, so complaints are not valid. If it was a perfectly normal and innocent picture or video then the complaints would have some agency. Otherwise it’d be like barging into someone elses home and then complaining at them that you don’t like the TV show they are watching or what kind of food they eat.

I really don’t understand why some people go so far out of their way to complain about a little bit of harmles shippy fantasy, instead of just going on with their day and leaving people be. What do you gain by putting people down over this?

If you have a problem with fan artists shipping these characters, filter the ship.

And even if Appledash was a thing, why would they be so subtle about it when they were so open and explicit with Lyra and Bon Bon’s relationship?

Ironic that you say that when EqG has been by FAR more active with ships and Rarijack is by far one of their favorite.  
You say they’re hetero, but they’re both literally pining for a male version of the other’s color scheme.
 
I’m surprised that they settled on APpledash in the show but the chore line really hits close.

Rainbow has helped Applejack with her chores since season 2, with destroying the barn. Seeing as how they’re arguably closer friends with each other than they are with anyone else in the group, it makes sense that Rainbow would offer to help Applejack out more now that she’s getting older.

Shippers can ship all they want, but that won’t make it true. They probably just want it for the pornographic implications.

More than that, they discussed doing chores for each other. A reasonable conclusion is they must live together now, doesn’t mean they are lesbians but can’t be discounted either
