Yeah, that. Heck, the comic immediately following Spike and Starlight’s confrontation where Spike was talking to Vinyl about love pretty heavily implied it.

Well, the ship is over now.  
It was good while it lasted.
 
I will still ship SpikexStarlight but not in this comic series.  
I think I will stop read it now.  
That ship was the only reason I kept reading it.

You’re missing it. It wasn’t shown off screen. It was all shown on screen. Starlight and Spike agreed to sail it back… which was more of a bandage. Starlight admitted to Spike too that she likes to be in control, and what we’ve been seeing since then is her NOT being in control. She’s struggling but putting a “everything is fine” face on. In an ask Adorkable session, Starlight said she was confident she is good. Then we found out she isn’t. She went to try and get advice through Roseluck, who also could see through Starlight’s facade. Moondancer has been shown in past episodes that SHE KNOWS Starlight likes Spike, and she even saved Spike from having to choose between Starlight and Lily before. It is now that Moondancer feels she has to make a move so it doesn’t absolutely destroy Starlight and her friendship with Spike. Obviously I don’t know what happens next, but it has been shown. Some of it through dialogue, some through emotion and expressions, but it’s all there. This series never hides stuff, whether it is front in centre or playing a background role. It is up to us, the reader, to be perceptive.
 
Though for readers who aren’t the series does a nice job at providing humor and jokes as well.

He really likes having stuff happen offscreen. Through the few interactions they’ve had since their roadtrip, there was no indication that Spike had outright rejected Starlight.

That’s what happen when you take so long to make a move.
