Ok, I looked it up and it seems the current plan is to alternate between the two films on separate days. So they are keeping Impressions de France (for the immediate future anyway).
My mistake, I misremembered. It wasn’t the ride that might cause problems for the film, but the rumored Beauty and the Beast sing-along (we assume it would be like the Frozen one in the Studios).
Now that looks amazing. It’s only concept art but still a pretty sight
Construction has been going on for quite some time now. Basically it’s an entirely new section in the back of the pavilion. There’s plenty of space for the ride, they are even adding a new restaurant. This new area will be the first thing you see when the Skyride enters Epcot.
Ah, so true is the motto of “out with the old, in with the new”, sad but I see that times and things do change over time. The 80’s to now is quite some gap for things to be considered “old”… I do feel a promotional video from the 80s wouldn’t really be as relatable to young peeps as one that’s centered around the 00’s, definitely.
@Scintilla Aquila
Seems like you’ve some access to pretty quick intel, eh? Pretty lucky circumstances there. Still it does feel a bit sad that they’re letting go of the past (Universe of Energy sounds like a lot of fun organized madness), but I feel that they are doing it for a valid reason: to simply keep up with the modern times. I have no doubt more recent things like Guardians of the Galaxy and Ratatouille will sell much more than Ellen’s or Bill’s, considering back then they were probably good for their time. I hope everything goes well with what they’re doing.
Well, while Universe of Energy was an amazingly designed attraction, with 6 sections of seats (totaling over 500 seats) moving themselves throughout the pavilion during the show (not to mention the dinosaurs), I have to admit that Disney will probably attract a lot more people these days with that Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster they’re building over it than with a late 1990s attraction starring Ellen deGeneres and Bill Nye the Science Guy. (I don’t remember what the show was like before they renovated it in the 1990s.)
As for France, I have heard rumors (my S.O. is a travel agent specializing in the Disney properties, so she always has a finger on the pulse of things) that they’re going to renovate that pavilion and install something based on Ratatouille, and they may not have enough room without getting rid of the existing film.
This is why it’s difficult for Disney to add more countries and the last one added was in the 1980’s. They have the space but negotiations never progress that far.
The reason they would retire Impressions de France is because it was made in 1982, so they would want a more up to date promotional video on France.
Oh geez XD Good pun
@dragon lord
That’s actually a sweet comparison you made there, I’ll definitely take note of that haunted mansion :o They totally could use the same kind of immersive style if they were to ever make Luigi’s mansion, just add some more things to spice it up and differentiate from that mansion, and there you have it
@Scintilla Aquila
So what I’m hearing is that the countries themselves were genuinely happy with collaborating in helping shape the Epcot park? Woahh. I do feel that having those real brands adds to the experience, knowing that those REAL working companies might be the ones to lead us into the very future. Sorry to hear about the Universe of Energy tho, but why would they retire Impressions de France? I actually do not know much about the situation but I do feel like it’s essential to what Epcot probably is
At least when the various nation pavilions were first built, each one was usually sponsored by that nation’s board of tourism, just like how the pavilions in the Future World section of Epcot were all sponsored by various companies (like General Motors for World of Motion/Test Track, or ExxonMobil for the now-defunct Universe of Energy). Not sure if they still have those arrangements in place.
Good lord will I be sad when Epcot retires Impressions de France… I always choke up at the end of that film.
Yeah it’s definitely something I would pay to go to not to mention that it’s probably going to be the very first theme park based on video games.
Also if you ever go to magic kingdom then I highly recommend riding the haunted mansion ride it is such a cool ride like the up at the beginning before you get to the part with the dancing ghosts is absolutely outstanding and if they ever make a ride like this for the Nintendo theme park we all know that it’s going to be a Luigi’s mansion ride and I would go on it in a heartbeat because I love Luigi’s mansion so much.
Evidence: Fully-Loaded Canon
I ain’t ever hear of those news either, wow. I’d totally be down for that, bringing Nintendo to the real world like how they did with Disney. From the way you say it it’ll feel much like going into a video game world. Yep
One thing I’m really excited for is the Nintendo theme park they’re planning to build at universal studios and there’s so much they could do for it like taking a picture with Mario and Luigi or watching a Pokémon stage or something I have always wanted the most a Zelda atmosphere.
Seriously just imagine a real life replica of the hyrule castle town from ocarina of time and being able to go up to the castle to meat link and Zelda and going through the temple of time to enter the sacred realm and meaning ganon.
So many things they do for it.
Edited
Holy crap now that’s amazing. Dunno how they go to these great lengths but their effort certainly pays off.
@dragon lord
I totally feel like it now. One day i’ll go but for now I’m sightseeing from your perspective XD
Yeah disney world is definitely worth it.
Edited
They hire people from each of the countries to work there and prepare the food (so everyone in the Japan section is Japanese, everyone in the Mexico section is from Mexico, etc.)
Now I feel Epcot sounds awesome. I wonder how accurate they made each country… seeing that this place is so popular i think they’ve probably modeled them quite well.
Though the rain was being stupid I don’t blame u at all. ^^ This all feels like a big party to me
Yeah I think we were in the Norway area of Epcot which if you don’t know what Epcot is it’s another one disney’s Parks and this ones pretty cool because each area is themed around another country like Mexico, China, France, and of America it’s self it’s a pretty cool park and if you go to Disney world then be sure to visit all for parks just you’ll see everything they have to offer however I wasn’t able to get any photos at Hollywood studios which is another park because it was raining while I was there and I didn’t want to get my phone wet.
