Yeah, what justifies hate speech laws (which mostly don’t exist in the US) is the quantifiable fact that hate speech is directly linked to incitement of violence, which is an immediate threat to public order even if someone really, really has a hateboner for some frequently-discriminated-against minority group.
 
TL;DR: hackbarth is right, “It’s not actively illegal for me to spout ignorant hateful shit” is a pathetic excuse almost entirely used by worthless assholes trying to paint some veneer of acceptability on their worthless assholery. And the opinion that the mere existence of same-gender couples makes a kids show not for children anymore is worse.
 
It’s very close to saying that same sex couples should not be allowed to exist in the presence of children, and very near saying that they should not exist at all.

I am a Christian, but I also happen to be LGBT… and, no, I do not believe in the whole “homosexuality is a sin” shebang. nor am I forcing you to believe the way I do. that would be outrageously unlike me. and I take virtually nothing in the Bible literally.

It’s been almost 2 months of people freaking out that there might be gays, lesbians, or transgendered people in the world, and despite all that everyone has said, some people are polluting years old images with these debates looking for someplace where no one will disagree with them.

These people in this screenshot are using their “religion” as an excuse for their bigotry, ranging from calling people - let’s admit it - many of us on the site - freaks, mentally ill, and comparing us to pedophiles for being consenting adults loving who we want to. If that’s their religion, then it deserves some attacks.
 
Defend them all you want, but their excuse for their reprehensible and anti-social behavior on behalf of, and in “defense of”, their religion is intolerant, bigoted, and - let’s be honest - “seeing devils in the room around them retarded”.
 
If you expect others to behave based on the feelings of your invisible friends, and consider yourself attacked when other points of view merely exist, then you do not have the high ground here.
 
The right place for that is church - they can do that in church all they want to. But when they can behave like in civil society, and expect others in the civil marketplace to conform to their religious echo chamber, then their argument is 100% worth attacking.

Yeah, no, that’s bullshit. In 2018 there were 49 organized anti-LGBT hate groups in the US, LGBT people are far more likely to be attacked in violent hate crimes than any other minority group in the US, and hate crimes in general increased for the fourth year in a row in 2018, to the highest level in over a decade.
 
Homohating trashtalk is not AN OPINION, it’s a direct material threat to public order.
