Octavia’s out running errands, bringing her out to the northeast corner of Ponyville where all manner of strange and wondrous things take place and/or explode on a daily basis. As it so happens, today a certain golden pegasus was out taking an inflatable personnel carrier for a bit of a joyride - you know, testing out that hefty cider-fueled diesel, giving the squeaky tracks a bit of a work out too. Wonder if either of them realize how quickly their paths are about to cross…
It’s just down to simplicity with writing, easier to say ‘diesel’ and have folks know what you’re talking about than it is to type out ‘compression-ignition combustion engine’ every time I refer to motors of this kind.

Truthfully the M113 up there’s just an extension on the other inflatable tanks I’ve drawn in the past for a friend’s story, the initial tanks of which actually drew direct inspiration from that inflatable sherman there;
