Good point. While I do like MLP:FiM and the fanart and even some fanmade music from time to time, I don’t know if I wouldn’t consider myself a Brony. No offense to those who do, of course, it’s just something that I wouldn’t call myself.

Exactly. They’re just labels. You don’t have to take them on if you don’t want to.
 
I took on the “brony” label because I wanted to. I liked the name.
 
Someone can like Star Trek without being a trekkie.  
Someone can like anthro without being a furry.  
Someone can like MLP without being a brony/pegasister.

And labels are important. Without labels, we wouldn’t have a way of categorization. Everything fits into categories. It has to be at least one thing. So no matter what, there are always ways with which you can be comoared to others. Brony is a label? Yes, and thank God for that.
