Hmm, The comics never gave a lot of backstory on her honestly. I’d say there might be no actual “crystal pony” species, moreso their apperances might be a sort of metamorphic affect from the Crystal Heart. We did see the mane six and many others transformed into the crystal design in the first episode we were introduced to all this, yet the ponies the live in the Crystal Empire do keep their “gemstone reflections” in their eyes reguardless.
I wonder if Radiant Hope wasn’t genetically a Crystal Pony?
I think crystal ponies are mostly earth pony by default,. It’s a shame we don’t know more about them, I find their apperance and culture rather facinating. ^^
