Yeah, but reserved or not it doesn’t change the fact that RD is pretty immature and self-centered most of the time, and not very compassionate or touchy-feely… just look at how she treats Scootaloo. Doesn’t make for good parenting material imo.

Actually the RD in the comic seems a bit reserved and unsure of himself. Seems like Best Flyer RD. So, maybe semi-ineffectual dad that learns as much from kid as kid learns from him, with mom as the ‘brick’ in the family?
 
Oh shi-, this is the perfect American sitcom setup. Aside from the bendy thing.
