Granted, my only experiences of Ambush Bug originate from Brave and the Bold and LEGO Batman 3.

Calling it the older brother is actully a better fit then calling it “pseudo power ranger”.
Kamen Rider and Super Sentai(what PR is from) where crated by the same person.
With that Kamen Rider was actully created first(by 4 years), it is mostly aimed at a slightly older audience(but not by much), often takes on some more mature concepts.
And both have a bases in the earlier manga works of their creator.

Sorry, I’ve only seen some of them. I couldn’t figure the best way to describe it without making it sound like a power ranger rip off, which we know it’s certainly not.
