I always considered zecora’s cutie mark or well,zebras cutie marks be tattoos that,in order to be obtained,they have to go through some sort of ritual or initiation.The tattoos are from a different kind of magic though.
I think that was established somewhere already.
well Donkeys don’t have cutie marks so maybe horses don’t as well
