Description
Spike pulling that trick all kids play on their two guardians against each other, be they parents, aunts/uncles, etc., all in effort to get more sweets. And poor Luna trying to walk that tightrope of figuring out how much authority she actually has with a child that isn’t her own, a battle many step-parents know (and those in similar situations).
Sorry——Ididn’t know it would change “Silfoe” to “Self.”
It looks like a horn, but if you look at some of Silfoe’s other images that take place farther down the timeline of this series you can see that it’s where a new ridge of his spines is beginning to come in. It’s Silfoe’s way of showing him grow.
This is something that many shipping artists/writers forget to show about their Twilight ships. They aren’t just getting a new lover—they are getting a child in the process, too. Self has put a lot of work into showing the relationship between Spike and Twilight, and I was happy when she showed Luna trying to get to know Spike as well. Many either ignore him or just say “he’ll deal with it.” Others have varying degree of relationship or some going full-on “Mom” or “Dad.” Nothing feels right without context, so I support the artists and writers who take the time to show how Spike reacts to no longer being the most important creature in Twilight’s life—and the possibility that he may be gaining some pony who could love him as family as well.
Celestia: “Now Spike…We should get ice cream cake instead.”
Spike: “…I love you.”
