Starlight and Sunburst practicing “magic” together. MLP’s most vanilla ship. Funny thing is their ship floats because their back story doesn’t hold water.
She became a super villain because the first pony she ever cared about left her behind when they were foals. Due to how common this “traumatic experience” is and missing exposition, most fans can’t relate to Starlight’s disproportionate reaction. There are likely two possible reasons. Its either she has mental problems… or she really REALLY likes Sunburst. The later fuels the ship.

I love this ship because of what Sunburst is compared to most of the male ponies we’ve seen in relationships. He’s not big and strong like Bright Mac, he’s no knight in shining armor, and he’s not an upper crust wealthy gentlecolt. He’s beta, and you don’t see a beta get the girl all that often.
The fandom has a lot of ships but most of them raises “questions.” Vanilla for me simply means a ship that’s same species, same age, not related (like incestuous), not crack (like seen standing together (or not) in a single frame), and lastly the rarest of them all, a straight ship. Its basically the most kid friendly after school special ship the fandom has and if the show make it canon, it won’t draw unwanted attention from soccer moms.
