“Finally I get to post this! A little late to the boat but…
What originally started as a simple sketch of passion turned into probably one of my most detailed pieces yet, at least in terms of background.
After I saw Wonder Woman (the day it came out) I was awestruck by it all, and immediately wanted to sketch this epic scene from the film in a pegasus crossover. However, no one told me “sketching a background and color/shading it are two entirely different tasks that are not equivelant in effort”….
About a 20 hour difference to be more specific. But I was able to use this piece to try out some new things, which was both frustrating (ask valor-force) but also very rewarding.
I never inteded for this to take 3 weeks however, as I wanted to bang this out and get right back into WoF. But as I mentioned earlier, the startup company I’m with bled a lot of my time during the past 3 weeks. Things are starting to plateau again there, so it should go back to normal hopefully.
Random Artist notes:
- I believe Diana would be a pegasus due to mainly her fight style: She’s able to fly across the battlefield at tremendous speed, allowing her to close the distance of her opponent with immense grace and devestation. If there’s anything DC Films have done well so far, it has been how they nailed Diana’s fight style. She’s all about disarming her opponent as soon as possible, breaking their balance, and throwing them to the ground using every tool she has, including the environment.
Also Diana’s origins are very Greek inspired, so a pegasus seemed natural
- I intentionally kept Diana’s colors saturated compared to the muted background of the war around her. I felt that it helped her pop out more, accentuating her goddess role on the battlefield. I actually toyed around with her coat being blue at first, but I felt the yellow went better with her costume.
- I used a handful of Battlefield 1 references for color pallets >_>
- Lol yes she’s staring directly into the back of a shield, which sounds dumb when you think too much about it, which I’m doing right now. I realized it far too late in the process to change her pose. Shhhhhhhh.
- I really like pony crossovers, guys >_>
I’m out in Dallas for the next week visiting a cousin for his wedding. Once I’m back after July 4th, then I’ll be able to get back to WoF.
Finally haha
GO SEE THIS MOVIE BTW! Is rly gud.
