I noticed that Starlight’s normally the one to cause trouble for messing with the wrong spells.
First, she tries to take over a town by using a spell to steal all of the ponies cutie marks and locking them away so she can be the only pony with magic powers. She was eventually tricked by Twilight into unlocking the safe so she can recover all of the ponies’ cutie marks.
Second, she then tries to use a spell to rewrite the past so she can destroy Twilight for ruining her childhood. She failed in that too of course when Twilight finally got her to forgive her for what she did to her in the past.
And now she’s trying to swap the princess cutie marks so she can bring ruin to Canterlot?
Luckly, the spell wore off by sunset just in time before matters got out of hand.
Starlight, you’re not a good pony after all. You’re just pretending to be one. >:(
@JayRealityV1
She even makes that ( 3: ) face that Peri often makes.
Different spells. Starswirl’s swapped destinies, while Starlight’s only swapped magic. Celestia and Luna didn’t have any altered memories telling them that they should be good at what they’re doing.
The princesses are made of tougher stuff. Also they did struggle, it’s just that it was only for a day.
Edited
This time, the princesses seemed fine and the whole thing played out like a job swap and nothing else.
So…Starswirl’s spell caused ponies to confuse their true selves, and Cutie Pox causes the diseased to lose control of their bodies.
Meanwhile Starlight’s spell has almost no side effect other than it lasting for a full 24 hours? Who is this pony?
Mhmh, even though I must say that I actually like Starlight. She’s both capable in magic and has some sort of reason in her actions. She’s not doing it for attention like Trixie.
Having been thinking about Starlight’s talent recently, I felt a bit frustrated. How can Starlight’s talent not be magic. This idea, however, actually makes a lot of sense! I’m going to keep watching to see how Starlight performs her magic. I want to see if your idea plays out.
Edited
That sounds like an awful thing to need.
A tragic double-post,
but an interesting idea.
However, I think it’s more like how Luna put it near the end of this episode:
Nopony else is as willing to overlook protocol and ethics to get the job done.
Nopony else would be willing to mess with their demigod leaders the way she did.
Also, Celestia’s ‘what’ in this episode might be the scariest thing she’s done
(also counting the Daybreaker stuff, cause she’s too hammy).
Edited
It’s not magic; that’s Twilight’s talent.
Starlight’s real talent is fate manipulation; that’s why time spells and Cutie Mark spells seem easy for her, that’s why she knows how to work with the Map. Starlight somehow has some control over fate and the Map knows this!
Maud Pie wasn’t joking when she said with the right stone Starlight could rule all of Equestria.

This was the first time I was outraged by a pony getting away with stuff in the show.
Season 5 finale with Starlight was the second time.
If you want a similar scenario: Trixie’s first return to Ponyville where she enslaved the town to do her bidding. And she got away with it (not without losing her dignity a second time).
e: guess I was too slow

I love that expression she’s making!
You just got FACT!!! SON!!
Beaten by the edit.
Adding to this, Twilight using a spell to try and stop the parasprites from eating food, but they end up eating almost everything else.
Snips and Snails brought an ursa minor into Ponyville, and were punished by being given fake mustaches.
Trixie took over Ponyville using dark magic, and didn’t receive any on-screen punishment.
Fluttershy kept parasprites because she thought they were cute, thus thwarting her friends attempts to coral them. Due to Twilight’s later attempts to magically manipulate them, this indirectly led to incredible levels of damage done to Ponyville.

To be fair it’s not like any of the Mane Six did bad things and got away scot-free.
in fact Twilight kinda got it Better afterwards because she no longer had a deadline for her homework
The list is too long to list. But I’ll list a few that come to mind immediately.
Well there’s what Twilight did with that spell in Lesson Zero because she thought she’d be tardy, what Rainbow Dash did in Tanks for the Memories just because her pet would be away for a few months, everything that Sunset did just because she didn’t get what she wanted when she wanted, EVERYTHING Discord has done because…….just because. And I can go on and on.
Point being, all you haters really are irrationally biased and are just looking for excuses to punish Starlight or hate on her no matter what she does for whatever reason.
Twilight using the “want it, need it” spell in Lesson Zero.
Rainbow Dash trying to stop winter in Tanks for the Memories.
Sometimes you have things unwillingly thrust upon you by others, but in the end you appreciate the hardship they gave you as it help you grow as a person. I feel Starlight probably would’ve been punished if it didn’t work out so well in the end, she just got lucky.
