I don’t know, I think I’d have to see Princess Luna actually create the tantabus before I could believe it. In the mean time, I’ll stick with my Lying Spirit theory.

It has been confirmed, Luna created it, meaning she made it.

Until one head cannon is confirmed above all others, all are equally valid. Could the tantabus be an idea brought to life by Princess Luna, and so connected to her that it’d feel an ice cream headache that she’s feeling, as much as she feels it? Maybe. Could the tantabus simply be a lying spirit so assimilated with Princess Luna that it’d feel such pain along with her? Maybe. Until Hasbro confirms one above the rest, all we can do is theorize. Of course, even after such confirmation, we can imagine our own alternate MLP universe where our theories are true. Either way, it’s still fun to think about such ideas.

Luna has been known to bring things to “life” to perform a task. Like the spiders from the episode ”Luna Eclipsed.” Luna used her magic to make the toy spiders crawl to the target in order to win the game. Perhaps she used the same magic she used for the spiders on the Tantabus except this time the Tantabus had access to the powerful magic of the dream realm.

Actually, I have a theory about the tantabus. I theorize that the tantabus wasn’t originally created by Princess Luna, that there are more than just one of them, and that Nightmare Moon is the fusion of a tantabus and Princess Luna. I also theorize that the tantabus, between the pilot episodes and “Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep,” may not have completely let go of Princess Luna. So, yeah, based on my theory, the tantabus did feel the brain freeze.

My guess is the tantabus didn’t count on ice cream headaches when it possessed Princess Luna.
