I do hope this is the last we’ll see of him.
Actually, neither Sawyer or Avellone worked on the first Fallout. To add on to that, Sawyer never worked on a Fallout game before FNV or at least has never been credited as such.
Something I find rather amusing is that no company created by the original Fallout creators has survived for more than a handful of years. The sole exception being Obsidian and even they are having financial troubles.
Double checked and point on Sawyer and Lanius.
Also double checked Ulysses and Oliver. Oliver straight up just needs 1 check, while Ulysses’ speech path technically requires 2 checks, but the first is a loyalty/karma check you can’t fail.
As for ponies, I disagree that Starlight’s speech has no buildup. The things she stated here was just expanded versions of her previous speech in Canterlot that Accord blew off. They both go back and forth to try and refute the other’s point before Starlight countered enough of Accord’s points for him to concede.
Uh it was. The people that worked on New Vegas at the time (Sawyer, Avellone) were major parts of Fallout 1 and 2. Fallout Bible ring a bell?
Also Lanius wasn’t one speech but more of a back and forth that needed you to either be a great damn talker or even a perfect Barter master that showed him that even a straight conquest would be doomed to fail as the towns are so spread out and non-selfsufficient that the NCR would easily wipe them out in a counterattack. This notably requires Barter 100. You can check exactly what’s said over on YT.
Meanwhile Starlight in this does it in one piddly speech that has the entire buildup in the past issues all for nothing.

The Master needs several requirements, yes. I think the Transcendent One needs more than just a successful speech check too.
But you can talk out Legate Lanius, General Oliver, and Ulysses with nothing but single speech/skill check. There’s other bosses you can avoid but I’m only ccounting the final bosses ‘cuz I forgot the rest.
Alpha Protocol is all over the place on avoidable boss fights. From boss fights only needing a single speech check, multiple speech checks, speech check plus items. Some bosses are reversed in that you need to talk them into a fight.
I can’t remember too much on KOTOR 2.
Yeah.
Edit: Wait now that I think of it Fallout 1 wasn’t made by Black Isle/Obsidian. The Master doesn’t count.

You missed the fact that you need perfect evidence as well as a damn good Speech and Intelligence score to convince The Master to commit suicide.
She’s like Roman Reigns
Pretty much.
Pointing out the flaw in one’s ideology is a valid way to save the day, one that’s better than once again blasting it with magic.
Sadly, having the morally bankrupt character pull it off after absolutely everyone else failed to figure it out is ridiculous. She even fuckin’ lectures CELESTIA.
We’ve gone past “mere” worfing and gone into downright “Starlight is the only main character now” territory.
In this instance I guess I’m just kind of left high and dry.
Works for Obsidian Entertainment.
…can’t say I like how clean Accord gave up, but I understand the reasoning.

I think you are seeing malicious intent were it is not, to a ridiculous extreme.
If you could stop making unfounded accusations of authorial intent and putting words in the fandom’s mouth that would be nice. Not liking something doesn’t mean it was made to attack you.

“We should set fire to all of their pets right goddamn now”
if it gets them to write better stories then lets do it
Wow, IDW are literally the worst thing to ever happen in human history. We should set fire to all of their pets right goddamn now.
I’m not even trying to defend it that much, I’m not a huge fan either, but man people are taking this comic way, way, WAY too seriously and getting way, way WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to angry about it. It’s just a comic, guys. Let it go and move on.
It basically means a conflict resolved by someone rolling a 20 on their Diplomacy check alone, defeating the threat by having it essentially commit suicide.
Yeah, it sometimes happen… but for it to be the only thing it took, from a character that’s already got plenty of inconsistencies…. ech.
Yeah, we knew it was the comic’s turn to showcase the Starlight Power Hour, but for once I’d have been okay with her superpowerful magic saving the day, as opposed to suddenly becoming the only wise person around able to point out the flaw that would unravel Accord… especially considering that Celestia’s been once again portrayed at her very worst in comparison.
Your picture is PERFECT with this comment XD
Talking a lot to her adversary? She’s done it in the show before this on more than one occasion.
even fanfiction is better than the recent show and comics. FUCKING. FANFICTION.
