I would prefer an episode were he actually grows a bit, maybe grow tiny wings, and before you say anything, i think dragon kinda “mutate” when growing, especially because he had 2 adult forms, first when twilight forced grow him by accident when getting her cutie mark, and other trough greed, i could imagine him scratching his back viciously (if we can say the world) for an, or a good portion of it, just to find small wing tips growing in his back

Nice try.
I can see it now: Said enemy gives Spike a sadistic choice of which pony is to be spared, and he warns him not to get greedy, resulting in something pithy about how he can’t fight his nature or that his warning sounds more like begging, considering what dragon greed can do, maybe have an “oh yeah, I’m a dragon” moment.
In my heart, I’m still waiting for an episode where this actually happens.
And not with some gimmick or anything. Just Spike suddenly growing to save everyone from a giant enemy.
Don’t make it something he can do anytime at will, don’t make him remember it, don’t change the status quo, etc. Its all fine. Just lay it out that the power is there, since he’s still a goddamn dragon among ponies.
