Then I think that means I have no uncanny valley. It’s just a…canny plateau or something. I dunno. xD
It doesn’t just mean “creepy”, it’s to describe the gap that exists when something approaches being human-like, getting more and more realistic, until it hits a certain spot where it’s incredibly close to being human, but it’s not quite, and it sets off a feeling of disgust in us. Our brains know “something isn’t quite right.” Then after this gap, it can continue on to being even more realistic, and we’re fine with it.
It’s commonly applied to human-like robots. It does not mean images drawn with levels of detail that takes them into creepy territory. An image can have the uncanny valley effect, but most people misuse it to mean “creepy.”
I also don’t find this image creepy, either.
Edited
that’s the point
How? The shapes are exactly the same, the only difference is the added lips, the darker colors, the shading, and the absence of outlines.
The artist/image specifically states they don’t know where the uncanny valley is. So you’re right. Its still valid.
makes sense. thank you.
That’s a bit of an oxymoron.
The uncanny valley is more of a personal threshold.
If it doesn’t disturb you, then it’s not in your valley.
